Replying To KingdomBoy1:  "Exactly jack look at Daniel Flynn deciding to give up football this year, not to go traveling or anything like that he was probably just disillusioned with the whole thing and he was one of the top 5 forwards in the country in league and championship in 2018."
Travelling was exactly one of the reasons Dan opted out of inter county football this year.

I grew up in a Gaelic football-mad rural community in the 70s. It's even better now, almost mass community participation - all ages and sexes treated equally. The key appeal of GAA for me is largely that you have to live in the area of your club - your best v our best. Properly tribal. It's the best thing in rural Ireland and it's getting even better. Club though means more to me than county.

It was refreshing to see the Cork SHC 1/4 finals covered by RTE yesterday. TG4 had the Limerick semi finals on delayed coverage also.

More exposure of the club game can only be a good thing I think?

Dublin
North Leinster
South Leinster
Cork
Munster
Galway
Connaught
West Ulster
East Ulster
London

9 home games and 9 away games each. Top 4 into semi-finals."
I hope that's only football you are talking about there kid cause there is no way we are letting Galway have a team if we dont

Not that much at all. You could have more teams than that but what wage they would get would be...
You could get more than 3 teams in Leinster considering its population and the strength of football in many counties. the fact you cant see a sole team in Kerry is madness. Between success/strength of the county combined with Limerick and you could easily have a team there and then another in rest of Munster. And

Replying To galwayford:  "GAA should stay amateur. But it should embrace Gaelic culture more. There is a niche market for Gaelic culture. Look at Irish dancing, or Irish music. Both world wide now. GAA is all over the globe too. Regarding Rugby and Football, well both sports have been subsidised by Govt. For example, in 2007, Rugby and Football given Croke park for use. Both made profits from this. OK GAA charged but still IRFU and FAI made money. Then in 2009 and 2010 Govt gives IRFU 191 million to redevelope Aviva stadium. Nice piece of business by them! Sláinte."
London has GAA team. How many Londoners are aware of it? Let's start by expanding the game in London.

Most Londoners couldnt name their local rugby or cricket team never mind GAA. Its a transient city where you are as likely to find a pub full of Bayern Munich, Leinester or Tipperary fans as you would Fulham or Chelsea fans. Would be better to focus on the other UK county boards where communities are more setttled especially in north England where sporting culture is strong and people have an appetite for local community based organisations

Most Londoners are aware of those sports. That's the difference. The likelihood of finding a pub full of Leinster fans is a lot lower than finding a pub full of Chelsea or Fulham fans. I grew up in London and there is a strong appetite for local community based organisations. Sporting culture is strong in the city. Focusing on the other areas in England is pointless as well. Cricket, rugby league, and soccer dominate in the north. London actually has more potential due to its cultural diversity, size, and wealth.

Should opinions on this thread be collected from Div.1 county people, they would differ greatly from opinions of Div 4 people, div.4 is dead in the water and div.3 is dying a slow death, the elite top 16 are already professional perhaps not in name but certainly by nature, it is a hybrid organization with HQ being at the professional end.

We already have, and have had for years commercially viable clubs sponsored and backed financially that have been a huge success at senior level in hurling and football that allowed div.3 / 4 counties to compete successfully, for example, Wicklow's Baltinglass, Longfords Mullinalaghta, last year, a few years previous we had Carlow's Eire Og and O'Hanrahans, also Carlow's Mt. LeinsterRangers (Hurling), that sort of success from a div. 4 county will never be achieved at inter county level, that's why I say div 4 inter county is dead in the water, so imo, what contributed greatly to the success of those clubs was the fact that there was no "Back Door" system to contend with, no elite county got a second chance to regroup, t is my sole argument against the back door system.

Looking at the Senior all Ireland final (replay included) it was scary to witness the professional level that Dublin and Kerry played at, I think it will be easier now for Dublin to win 6 in a row all the way up to 10, it's only then will Croke Park sit back and say there is a problem here, 10 in a row is very doable for the Dub's irrespective of who their manager is, all things gaa within Dublin seems to be in a healthy state along with that the ladies football is going from strength to strength. I can actually see Dublin's senior hurlers winning the Liam Mc Carthy cup within the next 3 years.
It's said that the focus is now firmly fixed on senior provincial club championship games to raise it's profile higher and to televise more of it's games, that is to be welcomed, just wondering how long more can senior club championship games continue without a back door system.
