The ladies GAA is going through a boom. Congrats to the LFGA and LIDL for their fantastic promotion.

Some going, considering the weather and the men's football being on the day before reducing promotion and possibly eating into the attendance

Well done all, fantastic crowd.

The senior game didn't live up to expectations but the weather was appalling.

The inter game was excellent though.

Well done to Louth, Tipperary and of course the wonderful Dubs.

Great to see. Bigger attendance than Kerry v Tyrone semi final this year.

Great attendance on a miserable day. great displays by Louth and Tipperary. The senior game was very poor, not helped by poor reffing.

'Professionals' , not the best term to use when describing any Dublin team.

It was brought to my attention recently that 10s of thousands of school kids were let in free to Croke Park for the ladies finals. 56 thousand is impressive and by handing out freebies would help promote rhe game and rightly so but there seems to be a great silence about the amount of people who paid. If I gave out free pints for an hour to everyone in my local I'm sure the attendance in that establishment would swell enormously. Let's be honest, if full price was charged across the board, I would bet the attendance would have been halfed.

Not sure it was tens of thousands, but definitely a large number of freebies given out all right.

Something else that doesn't tend to be mentioned too loudly when they talk about attendances is that fact that every ladies football club in the country is made pay a levy of something like €150 or €200 early every year, and then they get that amount worth of All-Ireland tickets in September. So that'd be six to eight adult tickets, or 15 to 20 student/child tickets. Many clubs then organise a trip to Croke Park as a day out for an underage team, say, since they've already had to pay for the tickets anyway. They wouldn't necessarily be there if they had a choice of whether to pay or not.

Both schemes obviously work well in terms of swelling the crowd for the finals day, so I'm not knocking them. But I think it's worth pointing out some of the factors that contribute to the crowds being so big.

The Dublin ladies team are very professional. Look at the shape their in. They'll dominate going forward more then cork did in the past.

Obviously ticket revenue would be lower but as somebody said the attendance was bigger then the semi final this year. But it also beat the Dublin vs galway semifinal and monaghan v Tyrone one of recent years.

That's all true and packages include mentors go free if they bring more than 10 girls etc etc it's about promotion of the game itself and it's working. Very few ladies sporting finals would attract crowds of that number. Its an investment in their game and its no brainer.

I wish the GAA would do these for the hurling semis. Make them 80k sell outs. You already have 55 - 70k paying in to see them every year.

The Nally terrace is rarely open. Do what the ladies do and try and get bus loads of kids and their mentors into the Nally stand. It could be like a kids/student section.
