Why the smiley face Hermit?I didn't think it possible you could ever be amused - I would say you are constitutionally incapable of feeling or expressing joy or contentment. I see you sitting in your hermit's cell, a solitary, tonsured figure. You are clad in a rough, sack like robe and your only luxury is a battered old laptop that sits on your skinny thighs. There's a brown curling Kerry Four -in a Row poster on your wall. You only break your self-imposed silence to rail against the filthy modern blue tide that threatens to wash over the land. avonali (Dublin) - Posts: 1974 - 06/08/2019 22:39:34 2221959 Link 6 |
Yeah you're number three so it must be a load of rubbish right enough.

Exactly it is, I have no idea why they have such a list or why they introduced red or green thumbs for posts for that matter. I mean at the start people could green thumb their own comments, FFS!!! Why anyone would need such validation from strangers sitting at the other end of a phone or computer is beyond me. For me, it's just another unnerving reflection of what the modern world is, a place populated by people who seem utterly dependent on the approval of total strangers TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 07/08/2019 10:49:32 2222094 Link 5 |
On Hill16 as a neutral. In my misguided youth smoking a fag, but like all that day looking for history - either way it was going to be history. Ironic really that it is remembered for the day that history wasn't made. Podge8395 (Dublin) - Posts: 38 - 07/08/2019 11:49:44 2222121 Link 1 |

Great time to be a Dublin player or fan. Only a few more sleeps and a few more " come on yours boys in blue" before the Dubs become the greatest team of all time. For the fans on Saturday a couple of pints and then make the leisurely way to Croker, the only inconvenience being the country bumpkins clogging up the thoroughfares. No nerves though as it's only Mayo and they were always beaten even when they were at their peak. With a bit of luck it might stay interesting for twenty minutes to stop all the s#### talk of splitting Dublin in two or three or four. Shame about the odds though, no chance of making a few bob at five to one on. Should have got Whelo and Alan to talk up Mayos chances, bring down the odds a bit. Hope it's not raining, might go in half way through second half of the minor to shout on the team playing Mayo. Few scoops after to talk about Rocks scoring fifteen points and Cluxton kicking a couple of balls out to Mayo lads just to bring the winning margin below the twenty points. Watch the end of Sundays match on telly just to have a laugh at Tyrone and Kerry and see which of them we'll beat the s##### out of in the final. Ah the five in a row. For the players it's all about focus. Focus on looking serious when Jim says we're expecting a close game from Mayo and focus on not laughing when Jim says, after the twenty point win, Mayo put it up to us out there. The five in a row, immortality. Bernard still hanging around even though there are adds to be made, Rory coming back from his travels and playing from memory, Diarmuid giving up his summer in Boston, all for the lure of immortality. Ah the five in a row. And last but not least Jim. O Dwyer the b####### couldn't do it, or Boylan, not even the great Heffo. McGuinness, for all the talk about him only won the one. Harte couldn't win two in a row and he must be there about forty years at this stage. But Jim is on the cusp of greatness, he can feel it, the adoration from the hill, the adulation from the media, the greatest manager of the greatest team of all time. All that's standing in the way are perennial losers Mayo, and either Tyrone who are no better than last year when they were swatted aside with ease, or Kerry who can't defend and are relying on two nineteen year old forwards. How hard can it be. Just remember John said avoid all talk about funding and home advantage and all that loser talk as he'll take care of it. That voluntary coaches thing was genius, typical John. Time to get out the folder, look serious, put the hand over the mouth when speaking, the Russians might be watching, and whatever you do don't say anything interesting. Ah the five in a row. Just a few more sleeps! Llaw_Gyffes (Mayo) - Posts: 1113 - 07/08/2019 18:08:34 2222307 Link 8 |
Penned by a Mayo man not a Dub of course. We're still too weary from our 6 hour round trip drive for a dead rubber in Northern Ireland on Sunday to put such a War and Peace effort together at this stage.
