Mayo V Dublin

In fairness we get more from them than anyone else including the Rossies. I won't be adding to the list. Very good first half. Less said about the second.

Brilliant from Dublin. I knew they'd need a half to judge the pace of the game as they haven't played anyone as good as Mayo up until now. But when they opened them up early 2nd half is was hair raising. Pure skill, heart, athleticism and game/player management.
Sorry for a lot of this Mayo team, especially the likes of Parsons (welcome back) and Keegan. O'Shea had his usual game V Dublin (practically non-existent) and as for Cillian, toddler tantrum comes to mind a lot when I watch him.
Anyway we're there, in the final, looking forward to the game tomorrow for obvious reasons.
I think Kerry would have the better chance of beating us, but let's see if Tyrone can prove me wrong.

the first 10 or 15 mins of second half was the best football I have ever seen from any team Dublin were electric start of second half no team to beat them for next few years they can just turn it on when they need to you have to admire it best team ever I would think

I thought referee Lane changed his tune at HT. He let Mayo away with everything in the first half, and basically sat in as their 16th man. He must have been taken aside at HT, because he came out whistling every little pull by Mayo, and this gave Dublin significant early second half impetus imo, which helped propel them to a 2-6 to 0-0 scoreline in 12mins, and game over. Mayo were 'finished' looking last season, so the first half tonight was a lot more surprising than the second half cakewalk.

Hard luck to Mayo and their fine support

I only got back in a while ago and just want to compliment the Mayo support, shook hands, no excuses, they knew where they had gone wrong, very knowledgeable and I have no doubt Mayo will be back. Plenty of young players there.

Mayo caused Dublin many problems first half and were by far the better team but it didn't translate into many scores, Dublin came out and pegged Mayo back in there own half for a good 10-15 minutes.. sorry but Hennelly had a poor day and Dublin pounced. Also leaving Keegan on Com and isolated against such a talent.. it's not Keegan's strong point.. reminded me of a certain Paul Curran switch in 1994! Con made a show of Keegan and that was that.

Very proud of our team and a special mention to Fenton and Mannion who were a joy to watch as a supporter, Con.. what can I say.. he's special.

Again hard luck Mayo but it was always a big ask to come out of a 10pt loss to Kerry and expect to beat Dublin in Croke Park while not being near full strength and losing imo your player of the year against Donegal. Wish JD the very best in his recovery, great player and sorely missed

Semifinals are for winning. Dubs will realise that wasn't near the same Mayo outfit compared to previous years.

Who Are Dublins Challenger Now?

Dublin have no challenger any more. Dublin are moving away out on their own completely. Maybe after this season the scales will lift from more eyes with regards the future of football at All Ireland senior level. This is not a stand alone Dublin side organically coming to a peak with an end of life cycle hoping to go to the well one more time and win a 5 in a row. It's not a bit like the Kerry side in 1982 that were the same squad and especially first 15 year in and out for 5 continuous years or like the Kilkenny team in 2010 that had massive collective mileage too. What sets Dublin apart from Kerry 82' and Kilkenny 10' is this Dublin team is continually hitting the re-set button and regenerating at rate no other side can match. The Dublin senior squads - not squad - I mean squads - are getting younger, stronger and even more professional and efficient by the year. Dublin will cruise onto a 5 in a row. Let's talk about six baby will be the cry soon enough! The lack of genuine competition will eventually even effect the most staunch of Dublin supporters, the fun and drama will go out of it soon enough. Mark my words.

Replying To Peadarw:  "I have to agree too much being made of dublin beating mayo well .....in my opinion dublin may have kicked it up a gear in the second half but mayo didnt have the same intensity in those crucial opening minutes of the second half
Dublin players getting long balls in with miles of space ..didnt happen in the first half and i think thats what made the difference

Also i wouldnt go writing kerry or tyrone off just yet either i think kerry is now best poised to beat the dubs if they get by tyrone"
Who's writing them off

Good luck seeing one Dub on here doing so

That was a Mayo side at about 70% of their previous best, which were a sparrows fart in the breeze away from Dublin.

No one getting ahead. I've not seen or heard a single thing from the Sunday game lads but I can predict their words.. Dublin unstoppable blah.. blah.. blah

You won't find any Dubs fan talking like this and rightly so.. Kerry have already proven they can also beat Mayo by 10

I've watched this young kerry team and young donegal team and cork u20s hammering dubs and now in minor final suggests to me that dublin are going through a golden era like the kk hurlers a few years back looked like they be unbeatable for years to come but I feel if you look closer that is just eat it is a golden patch and I see teams catching up and overtaking in not too distant future ......other teams have had these era too let's not all lose the run of yourself completely

There's no fun or drama in it now. When the only fun and drama is mocking a Mayo side that were 'finished' two years ago, where's the fun, where's the drama? I'm not talking about the Dublin team mocking anyone either. I'm talking about elements in media, in punditry, and among cohorts of fans nationwide.

You just can't handle the fact that the Kingdom are no longer top dogs. Hope we get you in the final and give you a right good trimming. What glorious days to be a Dub and live in this era of the greatest team of all time.

Replying To Jack_Goff:  "It's not mental. It's physical fitness. Dublin held mayo to a 2 point lead at a canter in the first half then blew them away with their superior athleticism, strength and conditioning and fitness in the second. Mayo will never reach that level and no other county will either. And I wouldn't expect them too either.

Look at the meath players for example. Amateurs training like semi pros. I wouldn't ask them to give up even more to reach a level where they'd lose to Dublin by 5 points instead of 15."
That's such simplistic nonsense. Fitness doesn't kick the great scores Mannion did. Dublin blew Mayo away in the 10 minutes after half-time. This after both sides had a 15-20 minute break. You're seriously suggesting that Mayo died in the 10 mins after half-time due to fitness?
Mayo don't have any forward like Mannion or O'Callaghan. These are lads that can do serious damage in a 5 minute spell. They don't have a midfielder close to Fenton's ability. He made some fantastic catches in that game and popped up with scores too.
Dublin simply have better footballers. Mayo gave as good as they could and as always, left everything they had out there.

Congrats Dublin, turned it on when needed. I wouldn't be writing the obituary for football just yet I think Mayo are a good bit off the level of a few years back in all honesty. We all knew this would be a difficult assignment for them and there was always a danger that it could end up in a bit of a rout. Is anybody that surprised the way this game went?

Anyway, congrats again. Heading for the big smoke early tomorrow to hopefully watch Kerry confirm a Dublin v Kerry final!!

Safe travels to everyone this weekend

You know you may be right about the future, that's only human nature but this team has evolved as a result of brilliant management. Jim has introduced talent through all the leagues and has given them their chance, usually at the expense of more seasoned players. Maybe Micko held on to the old guard too long, maybe there was talent knocking on the door of that panel but wasn't introduced. I don't know. But we haven't won it yet, and a Kerry man giving up the ghost on the eve of an All-Ireland semi-final, with all the scoring talent in their team is poor fare.

I disagree, dublin really do look to be getting stronger and while a few other teams are getting better they are still nowhere near the dubs, it's frightening how good they are and they're addinf in a few players every year who are as good if not better then what was before them!
Kerry are supposedly the team coming to put it up to dublin in the next few years, they have great forwatds but i don't think they are better then dublins forwards and there is no comparison in defence, dubs will win the next 3 all irelands at least

Don't know what age you are but that Kerry teams life cycle was about 11 years. Were at their peak for about 8 years. But for two last minute goals in 82 and 83 could have won 9 in a row. This Dublin side will fade slowly the same way , just enjoy watching quality football , Kerry will win one in the next three years for sure.

Replying To essmac:  "Looking at that, why would you even want to win the other semi? Issue is how to keep intensity for every minute of the 70 or 80. Too many of Dublin's opponents have lapses in concentration. You don't "deserve" to win just because you put in a good 40 or 50 minutes. Other teams are close enough on skills and conditioning; but, currently, none of the other teams have shown that they know how to play to the top of their ability for an entire game; none so far have shown that they can stay with the Dubs in terms of 100% focus. That's a mental discipline thing; and it also derives from whether or not you see yourself as a winner; or whether, at heart, you're more comfortable with losing, and covering up that loser mentality by "playing a good game".
Unfortunately, in 2019, every other team is showing Dublin far too much respect; and look I don't see either Kerry or Tyrone stopping the rot."
Classic case off football started in 00's essmac, a fellow Tyrone supporter.

Remember when, for years, for want off a better word, Tyrone were shite. Apart from a yearly shock in the 80's and 90's, zero consistency. Defeat after defeat.

Appreciate getting to Semi final etc. You don't know what's behind the corner.
