Tyrone Vs Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I'm still not quite sure what to make of this game. It's impossible to know how either team is approaching it. Whoever loses it will probably escape the critics due to bigger picture. It's an odd situation but an interesting one. Dublin don't like to lose and Tyrone have their pride, and they're playing at home, so I'd be wasting my time trying to call it.

Nearly 3 times as many as the Meath v Kerry thread all the same.

the big thing about this game is who actually gets to play in it.

Tyrone are expected to be beaten in this one and they will be.
They're going to keep their powder dry for 7 days ahead to try and beat Kerry.
I think it will be Donegal versus the Dubs in the other match.
I predict a Tyrone Dublin all Ireland final again this year.

Whatever dublin team take the field they will beat Tyrone at their easy. Tyrone were extremely fortunate to be in an all ireland final last year and in my opinion are worse this year.
Dublin have many more natural footballers than Tyrone whose footballers seem coached to death. They are extremely robotic and because of this they cannot adapt to meet differeing challenges.
Tyrones draw since they have being schooled by Donegal was so fortunate. Longford who only are half the team they were in years gone by, kildare who are renown to be watery and cavan who were beat when they balls came out of the hat. In the super 8s they best roscommon who never believed they could win and cork who are improving but currently very limited.
All the praise heap on cathal mc Shane is a disaster waiting to happen for Tyrone. Not one full back bar mcgee in Donegal has laid into him. Easy to do what he does when no pressure is being applied to him.
If you were ranking the top 5 currently I would say 1. Dublin, 2. Donegal 3. Kerry 4. Mayo 5. Tyrone.

The Tyrone team for Sunday is a total change and I suppose is a result of having a semi final in one weeks time. The players who have played in all their games to date need rested for next weekend. It certainly raises issues about only a weeks break after the super 8s. Tyrone are very lucky to have such a panel of quality players but not all counties have such a privilege. It certainly raises questions about the super 8s

Teams out and both are as close to as expected, there will be more than likely be a few late changes to what is announced as we know but based on the teams we have seen I predict a close affair with possibly the dubs taking it by 3 or 4 in the end but we can all be sure that Tyrone will game for this one in their own backyard too. Imagine what win could do for Tyrone and how it could possibly effect Dublin mentally. Its hard too see Tyrone winning but I would love to see it.

Tyrone have named their second string 15...still a good enough team to give the dubs a game of it while testing key players for the really big game next week.

Tyrone do not need to try a leg. Possible showdown with Kerry next Sunday will need all their energy, tactical thinking, and main players rested. Dublin will also have in my opinion a mega clash against Donegal who offer different problems from the norm for the Dubs. I cannot see this even having the intensity of a league game.

The 4 names with most at stake on the Tyrone teamsheet are Paudy Hampsey, Michael Cassidy, Tiernan McCann and Richie Donnelly. Any of those have a chance of starting the semi-final, with Hampsey the most likely if he can prove his fitness against the Dubs. None of the other 11 will start next week.

Replying To Joxer:  "None of those players you mentioned have played in the championship this year. Basquel isn't even in in the squad as chose to travel over the Summer I think. Jim will have two goals, win and don't lose momentum. It's going to be a real balancing act trying to get the match day panel right. Too many cold starters and we will be out of sorts I should imagine. He'll want this year's performers to hit the ground running in the semi, a tough game in Omagh is exactly what's needed. We may see Gavin in for Fenton, Lowndes for Jack, ROC for Philly. Paddy might start for Mannion all to avoid injury. I don't see a B team going out though. It's not Gavin's style so a lot of the semi starting 15 should start in Omagh."
?.......both counties are staying fresh for the 6 day turnaround and why not?

I thought that Tyrone would rest half the team, but the whole lot??

Interesting Dublin selection with 7 or 8 changes but I can't see that team starting. Lowndes at half forward? McDaid starting? Difficult to know but I can see a couple of tweaks before throw-in. Gavin won't want to lose even if there is little consequence. Would love to see Bernard and Dermo get a run.

Should a team be allowed to make 15 (or indeed 8) changes for a game at this stage of the c'ship? I understand the arguments about protecting players from injury and also not 'showing your hand' but this seems to be making a laugh of the competition. I know the Super 8 initiative is ridiculous but while it is in place it needs to be respected.

Gavin will drop 2-3 more of his regular starters before throw in.

Wouldn't it be more in the GAAs court to be respectful of teams and players than having them play a semifinal 6 days later. They don't help the scenario at all with this sort of carry on.

I still hope the Dubs do the business against this lot tomorrow.
