Every time Kerry play it's the same stuff about if the Kerry forwards click.
I can't remember the last time they 'clicked' against strong opposition in the championship.

You're dead right . It's always easy click against weaker opposition. Same aul rubbish every time.

I hope Kerry win so that the Kerry lads on here have something else to talk about other than Dublin

We'll see on Sunday I think Kerry have a lot of improving to do and Mayo are gathering momentum, going to an interesting super 8's this year I think.

Interesting to read Dara O'Sé's Irish Times column this week. He suggested Sean O'shea should start in midfield. He'd likely get on more ball there facing Mayo's goal, than he would with his back to goal on the 40 with Lee Keegan up his hole.

Judging by the chat on social media from various former Kerry players they realize the magnitude of this upcoming match. Kerry aren't often beaten in Killarney but Mayo are building momentum. A titanic tussle in store. As Dara says you can chat all day about systems and tactics etc. Somewhere along the way championship always becomes championship and that is never more apt than this weekend's clash in Killarney.

I think this is the game Kerry have been gearing towards all year, the first of the super eights. ( By the way I hate the term supers eights).

I firmly believe that they have not shown there hand at all. Will be interesting to see line up. They have to make a few changes.
A win for this young Kerry team would boost confidence immeasurably.

Thank God it's on RTE and not Sky.

If we're good enough we will win, if we're not we won't - simples.
One thing everyone down here knows - we have no right to be talking about this young team as realistic AI contenders if they can't defend their home patch against any of our main rivals.
We will need a serious performance against Mayo to get over the line, I don't doubt that yet oddly many people seem to think Kerry have all of a sudden become some second rate team - that's the narrative I detect anyway.
Hopefully on Sunday we can show the country we haven't gone anywhere and we will have a big say in the summer yet.

I like the idea of O'Shea starting in midfield but only if they had a physical presence to compliment him. Barry hasn't maintained the form I thought he was capable of but he's still Kerry's best bet as a partner in there as David Moran looks way off in terms of fitness.
I reckon Kerry take this one simply because I think they'll take their chances better than Mayo will. Kerry will be a lot cuter and wiser about Mayo now after the 2 losses, they need to pace themselves better for one thing.
As Dara said, they need some dirty ball winners and personalities that can rile that Mayo defense up. I think some Kerry lads are gonna step up and take that chance. As good as that Mayo back line is, they're still coughing up chances. Chances that I see Kerry's forwards punishing ruthlessly.

Geaney to have a return to form and Kerry by 3.

I am genuinely jealous of anyone going to this game as I reckon the atmosphere will be electric

The following games might not be very 'interesting'.

Cork/Roscommon: Both could be out before they meet.

Kerry v Meath: Meath could be already out; and, even less 'interesting' if Kerry already through.

Tyrone v Dublin: Both could be through when they meet leading to a farcical game like the Galway/Monaghan game in 2018. We also had the farcical Kerry/Kildare game: Kildare were already out and, as word filtered through from Galway, Kerry were also slipping out rapidly.

However, on the positive side, we will have some brilliant games starting with Kerry/Mayo on Sunday next.

This group could potentially go down to points difference if 3 teams finish on the same points. So it is must win for Kerry and Donegal too. Mayo, if they slip up v kerry, face the potential whipping boys of the group in croke park followed by a home tie. They could be sitting on a healthy goal average going into the last game with a win sufficient to go through.

A most interesting group indeed.

Replying To Aibrean:  "And Shane Enright is 31.
The average age of the Kerry team is 24 while the average age of the Mayo team is about 27. So no huge difference between the teams there.
And, it looks like only 2 (at most) of Kerry's starting 15 will be over 30, while 3 of Mayo's outfield players will be over 30. So, again, surprisingly, no significant difference there.
However, a difference is apparent in the extreme youth of Kerry's players: 7 are under 23 whereas on the Mayo side only 1 is under 23.

So, in the unlikely event of Kerry not winning the AI this year they are looking good for 5 in a row! At least!"

James Carr
Stephen Coen
Michael Plunkett
James McCormack
Conor Diskin
Ciaran Tracey
Fionn McDonagh

All 23 or under and either starting or have been in the match day squad for championship.

Plenty others who aren't breaking into the match day squad yet.

My figures are corrrect.
I took the team named to play v Galway (had to start somewhere) and of that 15 only one, Fionn McDonagh is under 23. And only 1 other starter, James Carr is also under 23.

Stephen Coen also started but he is 23 and, therefore, not under 23.

Not so sure.

Mayo or Kerry can beat Donegal.

I think those 3 will all beat each other. Might be everyone on 4.

Meath will love this talk.

Meath could spring a surprise or two including this Sunday in Ballybofey

If Donegal are in any way complacent then Meath have a chance. But I think at Ballybofey ye'll be switched on. Ye should have reached the semis last year. That defeat to Tyrone has to be something to be used to maintain focus this time round. Defeat at home cannot be contemplated. I think ye'll have too much for Meath.

Peter Keane would be under tremendous pressure if he were to be the 1st manager to loose in Killarney in 24 years and as a Kerry fan I hate to say it but it's true. I think it would put a real downer on his new term and the young team he's building. We need to show that we can beat a top team when they look us in the eye and are with us down the home straight and no doubt Mayo will be in the game until the final whistle. Mayo supporters are different from others, they seem to have more of an effect on their team than other counties and have the ability of giving their team the motivation to stay in the game no matter what until the bitter end.
For those who have not attended a packed house in Killarney it is a special venue and the fact the stadium is made up of 25,000 worth of terracing gives the stadium that extra buzz. Mayo fans will play a big part in this like the Cork fans often have done. It'll be the 1st full house in Killarney that Seánie Shea and David Clifford will have played in so hopefully the pressure won't get to them, especially with the huge Mayo crowd expected.
I think if we can get a good start and maybe an early goal (fingers crossed) and not make the same mistakes we did against Cork than the football can start flowing and when that happens Kerry are a joy to watch. However if Mayo get stuck in and get in our faces early on than it could be a long struggle. When the likes of Durcan, AOS & Colm Boyle get on the ball it gets their crowd really behind the team so if we can limit the amount of possession those players get it will be a major say in the final result.
Kerry do need to win and I think the young players will have not taken to the criticism too well from the Cork game and maybe a few are holding onto their success from the minor teams too much but have now been shot down to earth and will surely want to prove the critics wrong (especially Seán Cavanagh, his words will surely be used as a motivator from the management).
I think Fitzgerald's Stadium will be key to us winning, I wouldn't fancy us in MacHale Park but I've a sneaking suspicion we can do it in our fortress down here.
