My post was in relation to a post about how KK are not as good as before and I agree with that. Doesnt mean I dont think KK are not still a top team

Aware of that, just pointing out that a number of teams have upped their game in recent years, most notably the All Ireland champions, League Champions and Munster Champions Limerick.

You had a once-in-a-generation team, all came together, and trounced all before them. In Leinster, this coincided with probably the worst Wexford teams in living memory. That was 100% our own fault and we learned from it.
Wexford (and Limerick, Clare, etc) have upped their game massively in recent years, maybe it is other counties upping the ante rather than Kilkenny being mediocre and you are struggling to deal with this loss of invincibility?

I don't begrudge Wexford's victory at all. The only undefeated team left in the championship (or maybe Laois too?). Better team than us in the Leinster final. The Leinster championship was very exciting and entertaining this year. Happy to acknowledge all of the above.
Fact remains though that Dublin, third placed team in the Leinster championship, lost to a Joe McDonough team. Cork, third placed team in Munster, beat a similar standard Joe McDonough team by 23 points. From a Leinster perspective, that's worrying.
Like I've said earlier, the beauty of sport is the all opinion has to be backed up on the field of play. We're playing Cork on Sunday and ye'll probably be playing Tipp in the AI SF. Both matches will give a true indicator of how strong the Leinster championship is.

Nobody else has mentioned them on here but Laois emerged from Croke Park with serious kudos in my view. Nobody expected them to beat Tipp but they certainly gave them a lot to think about.
I don't think its a foregone conclusion that they will be relegated next year by any means. Everybody in Leinster will need to be on their guard and a draw away in Portlaoise will be as tough as anything.
Can't help wonder what might have been had they kept 15 on the pitch yesterday, that is something they need to cut out of their game but I don't think the referee would have sent off a Tipp man for the same thing.
But what a year and a tonic for hurling in Laois. Shows with the right structures what is possible. Well done Eddie Brennan and his charges. But they need to make sure that this is a start not the end.

Don't know if anyone else from Laois has actually commented in this thread?!
In my lifetime any big days Laois have had in HQ have always been football based (and only a handful of days at that), so what these group of lads and the management team have done this year is extra special as it's the hurlers.
Laois have always had the hurlers, but not the discipline and the collaboration to put it together at inter county level.
As everyone else is saying, the hope now is it is a springboard to further improvement that brings more lads into the fold and raises the standard, and not just a flash in the pan.
Just one comment on yesterday's game, I thought the ref was brutal, for both sides. Every collision was a foul, cheap yellow cards, no advantage played to the attacking team, and he really didn't help the game as a spectacle. What lads were getting yellow cards for in the second game, wasn't even a foul in the first game!
Nice touch by Tipp in sticking around to applaud off the Laois boys. Best of luck to them in the semi, I expect them to improve by 90-100%!

Do the Leinster Council want to risk for example Wexford playing away to Laois in a relegation battle. Or worse still, Dublin, given the huge financial investment.
With another year to develop under Brennan including a league campaign against tier 1 counties, they will surely only improve.

Great to see Laois put in a performance. A pity the score did not stay at a single digit defeat. I always say that if you can do that you were in the game. Eddie Brennan is doing a fine job with them. The one point about him was the way he criticized Derek McGrath for using a sweeper. Many did including our own but Tyrell and Eddie were over the top with their condemnation of Derek. Now what teams do not use some form of sweeper but use other words to describe.
The main thing is Laois did not get bet out the gate and neither did Waterford when we played to our strengths.
Hopefully the curve will continue up for Laois.

In hindsight, I put too much stock in Cork's win over Westmeath. Laois were on a high coming in off a win in the McDonagh final and used that energy against Dublin, whereas Westmeath were coming in on the back of a defeat so it was always going to be difficult to raise their game (like we are with many provincial losers in the football qualifiers).
