Well done to both teams. Delighted for the players involved. What effect will this have on hurling there though? How much promotion will there be on the back of it? Will the trophy be paraded through the streets? Visiting the schools? all the clubs? or just the hurling ones ? Leitrim hurlers got a great ovation at Pairc Sean at half time at the football qualifier with our footballers playing Clare. The sizeable Clare support were very gracious with their applause also. Our hurling team is really a snapshot of modern Ireland, lads with Leitrim heritage from other counties, workers living in Leitrim from other counties and of course lads not even born in Ireland mixing with locals who have kept the flame going in an overwhelmingly football county. Depends on the draw as the Christy Ring Cup is played in two groups of four (was in 2019) so they may not. But it's a 50/50 chance that they will. Great to see hurling do well in the West! For far to long it has been suppressed! But you did raise a valid point this is a great opportunity for these counties to increase the exposure of the game! And I hope the will. But i also think that these matches should be played in front of big championship matches similar to the Leinster final next Sunday! It was great for Sligo and in fairness shows the work that is done there, If Sligo can play and succeed why can't the rest. Too many counties relying on imports. Kildare on their Limerick. Kilkenny lads, Sligo I think have 15 sligo lads - Meath had 15 Meath lads as did Armagh ad Down. Very impressed by the number of clubs that made up the Sligo panel, 10 I think from looking at the programme. That is higher than the number of clubs represented in the Down and Armagh panels. Why didn't the Sunday Game have a hurling/camogie analyst on to discuss the Rackard, Meagher and Ring finals plus the Camogie games they showed? I know the Liam McCarthy is a much higher standard but a few minutes analysis and congratulations might help to promote hurling in so-called weaker hurling counties.
