Congratulations indeed to both teams, I had a little wager on Sligo and Leitrim to lift both Cups!

Well done to both teams. Delighted for the players involved. What effect will this have on hurling there though? How much promotion will there be on the back of it? Will the trophy be paraded through the streets? Visiting the schools? all the clubs? or just the hurling ones ? Is this a genuine launch pad for the increased participation in the game or just a reward for the dedication and hard work of core group of committed hurling people?

Will Sligo likely be taking on Offaly next year?

They will indeed be playing Offaly next year, since the rackard cup is next below the Christy Ring cup. To the best of my knowledge that will be a first meeting of the sides in the hurling championship.

Leitrim hurlers got a great ovation at Pairc Sean at half time at the football qualifier with our footballers playing Clare. The sizeable Clare support were very gracious with their applause also.
Our hurling team is really a snapshot of modern Ireland, lads with Leitrim heritage from other counties, workers living in Leitrim from other counties and of course lads not even born in Ireland mixing with locals who have kept the flame going in an overwhelmingly football county.
I maintain hurling should be taught on the national school curriculum nationwide as part of cultural studies.

Depends on the draw as the Christy Ring Cup is played in two groups of four (was in 2019) so they may not. But it's a 50/50 chance that they will.

Well done Sligo, you deserved it, tough on Armagh, but that's sport,
Coverage on the Sunday game was shocking as was the refereeing for the Final. He made too many errors for both sides.

Well done indeed! Great to see hurling do well in the West! For far to long it has been suppressed! But you did raise a valid point this is a great opportunity for these counties to increase the exposure of the game! And I hope the will. But i also think that these matches should be played in front of big championship matches similar to the Leinster final next Sunday! They deserve this imo.

It was great for Sligo and in fairness shows the work that is done there, If Sligo can play and succeed why can't the rest. Too many counties relying on imports. Kildare on their Limerick. Kilkenny lads,
Sligo I think have 15 sligo lads -
Meath had 15 Meath lads as did Armagh ad Down. So this short sightness of getting lads in, doesn't work!!!

No limerick lads in kildare setup any more, all home grown talent now!

good point totally agree.....the bringing in of players from other counties might help in short run but in long term it will do massive damage to the counties

Very impressed by the number of clubs that made up the Sligo panel, 10 I think from looking at the programme. That is higher than the number of clubs represented in the Down and Armagh panels. So there must be plenty of work being done on the ground in Sligo and it is beginning to show.

Why didn't the Sunday Game have a hurling/camogie analyst on to discuss the Rackard, Meagher and Ring finals plus the Camogie games they showed? I know the Liam McCarthy is a much higher standard but a few minutes analysis and congratulations might help to promote hurling in so-called weaker hurling counties.

Congrats to both teams. I hope that these are the teams who get the trips over seas, coverage on t.v. and an equivalent recognition selection to the all star awards. Probably not though.

The same thing will happen if the GAA introduce tiered competitions for football. Out of sight and out of mind with a pat on the head to know our place in the scheme of things

Hopefully they have a plan to sell rights below the top tier in hurling and football to TG4 and/or Virgin Media for live games, highlights, analysis and option to watch games and highlights on playback.
