Replying To Andy:  "No arguments here, best of luck to Meath in the final, really hope you put it up to the dubs now.
Think the 11 point difference in the end was a tad harsh on Laois as I think on balance of play they were closer than the score line suggested. Meath far more clinical though with their chances."
Outclassed and outgunned.
Meath by far the more clinical forwards, for all our posession we never looked like putting up a decent score.
Normal full back & centre back sitting in the stands.
Our best forward subbed after 20 mins
2/3 good goal chances not taken
Entire half forward line subbed for the second game in a row.

The lads tried hard, some good young players coming through, and they'll have better days.

Menton good going forward, but Laois won a lot of ball around the middle in the first half, which Meath will have to tidy up. Conlon looks very promising.

Best of luck in the final, hope you can give the Dubs a rattle!

Replying To BliainanÁir:  "Congrats Meath and good luck in the final.

Match received NO ANALYSIS on SG. Instead we had waffle about the O'Sés having more appearances than the Cluxton family. Bizarre."
Ah the sobered up later and talked about the Meath Laois game along with o few qualifiers, an absolute afterthought. O'Shea did not comment, the boxer Whelan said essentially that Meath were not ready for Dublin etc. but were developing nicely etc.

This team is the best we have had since 09/10. And the support their getting needs to recognize this. Get out get tickets early, we in two finals on this day. Let's bring at least 20k to Croke Park

Be great to see the county getting behind the team, yersterday's turnout was very poor though, hopefully we'll bring a few more for the final.

There won't and the result will ensure even less attend the next Dublin meath final whenever that comes.

We're better off without negative supporters jack, I don't care what the result is on the 23rd, I'll be there with bells on and I'll be at the next game aswell no matter who we're playing.

No medals for quitting jack.

That's part of the problem. Until more fans vote with their wallets we won't see real change. You're doing us no favours long term. I look at the bigger picture.

Haha what throw the toys out of the pram and cry foul? Let me know how well that attitude serves you jack.

Give me optimism over defeatism any day of the week.

In my own opinion, I would say this is Meath's best team and spell in all inter-county football since the period 1999-2001. There were breakthroughs in 2007 and 2009 but retrospectively those years involved nice qualifiers and two wins over Mayo and Tyrone respectively to reach All-Ireland semis. 2010's team were good on their day vs. Dublin when they netted 5 goals, but the Louth game will mar them forever. I personally see the years of 2014-2016 as the lowest ebb ever for Meath, with last season also being notably poor although there was signs of the coming improvement for years. The county Minor, u20 and Junior set-up is also improving. This season involving the promotion to Div.1 and reaching the Leinster Final is as good as we've had in Meath for nearly 20 years. In fact the last time a Meath side won this many matches in one year was 2001 when they reached the AI final. Many people had turned away from the game around the county but slowly there is a buzz returning. Sadly I think the GAA's prize pig of Dublin is too big of an ask and the hype of the good old days will never return. The Leinster championship just does not inspire people anymore. The attendances at the two games were dreadful, particularly given that Dublin, Meath and Kildare were in said games and have a combined population of approximately 1.8 million between them. 36,000 is pitiful. Gone are the days of 70,000 excited spectators packing the streets around Croke Park for the big day. It isn't a big day anymore. Its a farce and we all know it. Leaving Dublin yesterday and passing supporters in their twos and threes and having a nice 40 minute spin home instead of the pandemonium of 2hrs of chaos and crowds trying to get out of the city years ago was very depressing. For a Meath team to be doing well and hitting their childhood dream of a Leinster final vs Dublin, the whole thing is depressingly anti-climactic. Shocking really how harsh the reality hit me.

I do realism, not optimism or pessimism. For years I've been pushing my opinions and only now are the majority of GAA starting to agree with me. I see this domination coming years ago and I see it getting worse. Save your €35/40 and prove a point to the GAA. We all now Meath has the ability to bring 25k to a leinster final or 30k to an all Ireland semi final so if only 5k meath fans turn up or less it sends the GAA a message. Invest in Meath football and you'll see big crowds return. The exact same applies to Kildare. Probably only 1k of them traveled to croker on Sunday. That sense HQ a clear message.

An absolute crazy statement. How many current forwards would get in ahead of Bray, ward, o Rourke, Sheridan, Farrell and Kenny? Cos maybe for Farrell but no other forward would get in. Even in defence one of our best players McGill wouldn't replace kevin Reilly on that team. That team was unbelievably talented and should have won far more

Not so sure there's a huge difference in overall quailty to be fair. No doubt Bray, O'Rourke, Ward, Sheridan, Farrell and Kenny were all very talented individuals but consistency was an issue.

Bray was outstanding and consistently played well, so was Kenny, although much more of a work horse than a scorer, I'd have those 2 any day of the werk in the current team, but other than that I think other positions are up for debate.

O'Rourke was very good but unfortunate with injuries, while all 3 of Sheridan, Ward and Farrell were brilliant on their day, they were also very inconsistent. They were capable of scoring 1-4 one day and not winning a single ball the next, very frustrating.

I definitely see your point. The lads that played in those years including all of the aforementioned players were talented as individuals. Id rate Bray very, very highly and the others as lads who underachieved 100%, Meath post-Boylan and specifically between 07-14ish weren't necessarily bad teams, just woefully inconsistent, too many managers in the period, too many off days. It just never clicked. When it did we had two or three great days but thats the sum of it. Its a sad reflection on the talent of the teams, including Reilly, Moyles, King, the O'Rourkes, Sheridan, Farrell, the Brays, Byrne, Carroll, and Fay among others... great players but nothing to show only a tainted Leinster medal from 2010 and a few good runs in the qualifiers against the pick of the draw. I think this is a new generation now, the players above might have had better technical attributes as players in many cases but were often ragged, lethargic, unmotivated or just badly managed. The Meath in that era was also notoriously slow, they were physical, but slow, and lacked technical prowess in their game. They were still hoofing the ball 20/30 yards into blanket defenses at the peak of the blanket defences. I suppose its a question of perspective really. New era.
