Traditionally in Louth the Newtown Blues v Cooley Kickhams would be the big one. These two are the most successful clubs in the Wee County. It is North Louth v South Louth and Urban club v Rural club. No two clubs have faced each more in Louth Senior finals than the Blues v Cooley. The Blues are the most successful club in Louth with 22 Senior titles. St Mary's and Dundalk Young Ireland's are next on the list with 11 Senior titles each and then Cooley is next on the list with 9 titles. Cooley have not won it since 1990 and are currently spending their second season in the Inter Championship. The Blues are going for the three in a row in Louth this year. The last club to this in the Wee County were Cooley in 1970's.

Good topic.

In Tyrone there are quite a few.....loads actually.

Il keep it to the bigger clubs.

Dromore vs Trillick. Omagh vs Killyclogher. Clonoe vs Coalisland

But the most famous would be Errigal vs Carrickmore I'd say. Played out many a battle.

In hurling Dungannon vs Carrickmore.

Carrickmore must be a great rural club to have won so much .

In Meath Navan O'Mahonys V Skryne is the traditional big one , the two most succesful clubs that have played against each other the most times in finals. O'Mahonys are the a great town club while skyrne are a brilliant rural club who have produced some amount of legends.... for whatever reason though the rivalry doesnt seem to be as bitter anymore. maybe the fact that the championship isnt knockout anymore.

youve some great derbys in junior and intermediate - Cortown and st ultans are both intermediate clubs from the same rural parish of bohermeen. This rivalry is bitter and has split households, they played the intermediate final in 2008 , supposedly brothers were in direct opposition. they all play underage together too.

At the moment though the Navan derby is the biggest in meath. Navan O'Mahonys V Simonstown Gaels.
Navan o'mahonys are the most successful while simonstown have only won 2 senior championships (1st in 2016).
4 out of the last 5 championships were between the two clubs.
Traditionally O'Mahonys draw there players from the town and most of the outskirts while simonstown have the northside of the town.
primary schools , st pats the secondary school and housing estates are split .

In hurling Trim v Kilmessan is the main senior derby. Trim are the town team and by far the only town in meath with a real hurling stronghold, kilmessan is a small village that is hurling mad.

Meathmaverick there are six clubs in Dundalk and five clubs in Drogheda. The clubs in Dundalk are Dundalk Young Irelands, Clan na Gael, Dundalk Gaels, Sean O Mahoneys, Na Piarsaigh and Dowdallshill. O'Mahoneys and the Gaels are Senior, The Clans and Young Irelanders are Inter while Dowdallshill and Na Piarsaigh are Junior.

The clubs in Drogheda are Newtown Blues, O Raghallaighs, Oliver Plunkett's, St Nicholas and Wolfe Tones. I am a Drogheda man so on the Northside of the town you have the Blues, Rats and the Plunkett's. The Blues and Rats are Senior while the Plunketts are Inter. On the Southside you have the Tones and Nicks and both of these are Junior.

You will get a lot of rivalry within them two towns with the clubs and you also get the Drogheda-Dundalk rivalry when one team from Drogheda plays a team from Dundalk. The Blues v the Rats would probably be the big one in Drogheda now because they are the only senior clubs in Drogheda while in Dundalk traditionally the Clans and the Young Irelanders would be seeing as the big one but both of these clubs are Inter now.

Newmarket v Sixmilebridge in Clare. Traditionally one pounds the other in periods of dominance. Sixmilebridge ontop for 25 years now but still remember when great Newmarket teams used hand out terrible beatings and laugh whilst doing it...funny thing is Newmarket wear the same jerseys as Tipperary and act just as obnoxiously..must be the blue and gold.

Hardly too many stronger than Camross and Castletown in Laois.. Fierce rivalries would be an understatement for some of them in Laois

What about clubs from different counties who would have a fierce rivalry? Portlaoise v Vincents, Crokes v Nemo or Corofin v Brigids to name but a few.

What way does it work in newbridge Lilywhite?
Is the town split in half ? certain schools are feeder schools for each club or is it all random?
Must have been a real buzz around newbridge when they met in county finals.
