At least in the KO, each round is akin to groups of two, with the 'group winners' playing the same 1 match-schedule as the '2nd placed loser'. I take your point, over multiple rounds a given team's requirement to lift the trophy can vary.

I'd put structure around the 15 rounds - 7 intra/with county players and 8 inter/without - it addresses my point and you lose nothing. You could keep your majority of teams coming through the WITH stream to get aloroval over the line. Why don't they approve something like this for the sake of the 98% ? - otherwise, players will go to other codes.

Teams playing the same schedule is not important.

A fair competition is.

You do lose something in yours. You lose flexibility in scheduling the fixtures because there's uncertainty as to when the county players will be available and for how many games.

It's only possible to really guarantee 6 weekends in each code to club championship in a dual county. Anything more and you're running the risk of not being able to finish a competition in time for Provincial club championship to start.

That's THE key problem that needs to be resolved.

You're killing me.
A fair competition is important for sure - and a common schedule is hardly unfair.
My intra 7/ inter 8 was a general idea - now you 'throw a spanner' in the works with the '6 full strength match limit'.
OK, all play 5 matches with county players - an 'intra 6' and an 'inter 10' 5v5, with half advancing from each, 3 and 5 to KO stage.
Then two 'intra 5s' and two 'inter 6v5s' are played for 10 other matches without county players - say, advancing from the 5s and the 6 this time are - say, 2, 2 and 3 to KO stage.
Double ups and best across 15 matches get 1st rd byes.

It is my experience that county players don't play in club league games and that was pre back door so I expect it to be much worse today. The day may come that the county teams are similar to the provinces in rugby where players on the county team don't play club league games and only play championship games. Under the system that I've proposed clu games would be played on the weekends between the inter county league games.

Also I think county boards use the inter county games as an excuse for not having their championships completed before the end of October. An example of this was Wicklow a couple of years ago who were struggling to complete their championship in time despite the fact that Wicklow would have eliminated by early July.

Something that is tough is how to fit in intercounty Hurling and provide dual players good championships in both codes.

The big problem also here is the different dynamics in each county.

Most Ulster and Connacht counties don't have a large number of hurling fixtures to accommodate.

In Galway the hurling championship gets pushed out to allow football to be completed in time for Connacht but that isn't a concern for hurling with no Connacht to worry about at senior level.

In Munster and Leinster it is tougher to get all games played.

Leinster is particularly bad with 11 teams in the province those provincial football championships take 4 weekends to play.

I've thought of it a lot and It's not an easy problem that solve and suit everyone in the process.
