Meath V Kildare

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This should be good.
All roads lead to navan on Sunday for what will be a defining game in division 2, the winner will be in a great position, and I believe whoever wins this one will be promoted, obviously I'm hopeful of a Meath win, but realistically it could go either way. A packed out navan will have a great atmosphere.

Is it true both Kildare and Meath voted against the Donegal motion?? I've seen that Kildare did on here and on Twitter than Meath did. Of course it would be hearsay. If true then I'm disgusted.

You're a gas man royaldunne. There's been Kildare vs Meath games where I couldn't see us losing (& it turned out to be the case) & you were on here beforehand giving it loads about how great Meath were & you couldn't see them losing.....and now you're being all coy when Meath are clearly playing better than Kildare! I'm not saying Meath will definitely win but Kildare would need to find some form a fair bit above what we have shown in the league to date to win this one.
Looking forward to it anyway, should be a great atmosphere. Anyone from Kildare know if Kevin Flynn or Paul Cribbin have a chance of playing ?

Andy mc and meath have made the league their priority this year. For kildare, neither mgmt nor fans are that concerned with league once we are producing decent performances. Based on this, meath who are further ahead of us in terms of fitness and prep and with home advantage, i would expect meath to win.

At least. :). In all seriousness
Meath have a horrendous record v Kildare lately, we basically have a bunch of kids, at least 8 of team that starts this game will never have played Kildare before. Add to that the injuries to mcentee (James) Brennan and O'Sullivan, most likely ruling them out will set us back. I'm not been coy. I hope we will win but it's no certainty by any means. A draw could be on the cards.

No chance of either playing I'm told. They were both on the far terrace for last week's game. Think Cribbin might be available for last 2 games.

I'd say not much chance for either, both close to recovery at the minute, Kev warmed up Saturday but I can't imagine they'd be at a match fit level unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong!

I would be more than happy with a draw royaldunne I would take that if you offered it to me now. don't think for one second Kildare wont be going full tilt in this game don't mind anyone making excuses they want to get back to div 1 and they know they really need to beat us to make that happen this game is massive for both teams hope we can do it but to be honest I have a bad feeling about it hope I'm wrong

Have the same feeling. Don't like the fav tag one bit. This Meath team has been written off this year, with many including colm parkinson tipping them for relegation, look back at the early pages of this thread. Everyone was predicting Kildare to be promoted with donegal, and many tipped Meath for relegation, this was always going to be the defining game of the league for us. And indeed I think Kildare would have had this down as one of the away wins. Like you said. I'd take the draw if it was offered to me. We have a extremely young inexperienced team, and while playing well are prone to the odd green mistakes.

I;d agree with that....there should be no excuses, getting back to Div 1 should (& would) be big for Kildare too........the reason I have Meath is favourites is simply that they seem to be playing better than Kildare in this league so far. We've been decent (but no more than that) in 3 games.....and atrocious in one. Hopefully a local derby with a packed house will bring the best out of us....but if it doesn't no excuses from me anyway.

Vast improvement in Meath so far this year but we've pick up a few injuries now and haven't played a team of kildares quality yet. Kildare by at least 6.

Sorry lad, but if Kildare management have not made the league their priority (I'd say they have) then I'd question the management. All rivalries aside Kildare at best will reach the Leinster semifinals and get beat , then try to navigate a way to super 8s through the mine field of the back door. Meath at best will make Leinster final and then will have to play a team who have came through the back door with momentum to reach super 8s. This is best case scenario for both counties, as we both seen last year there is always a Carlow or longford to throw a spanner in the works. Promotion would do wonders of good for either county, and the chance of some national silverware is always nice. To not target the league would be inexcusable imo.

Absolutely. Much better than I expected and fair dues.

Still 3 games to play, Weve all seen Meath mess up after good starts, the one game up in Ballybofey sums up Meath in D2 over the years, Until mathematically impossible, there is every chance Meaths old failings after promising starts come back and they implode, but if not, fair play to them, Be good to see them in D1, if nothing else they'll get that experience next year but theyre still a few years off competing and more importantly, beating, a top team in the championship (A Dublin, Kerry, Mayo etc)
