Replying To Ah_Here:  "Mayo are an infuriating team to follow. Had galway on the rack and started taking pot shots.
Psychologically is a good win for Galway. It will undoubtedly be tight when they meet in the summer
but Galways forwards will probably be that bit cuter and composed.
At least Mayo kept 15 on the pitch this time .. both teams so far behind Dublin its depressing .."
Ros will send Mayo through the backdoor id say and yes all teams are behind Dublin at the moment but that is not breaking news. Parsons should make a big difference to Mayo when he returns. Galway B upset Colm O Rourke and Brolly last night, or do they only watch the Dubs?

Replying To suckvalleypaddy:  "Glad to see both teams survive division 1 and this is great for Connacht. It was very comforting to score the goal with 13 men on the counter. Also, Flynn showed that defense works when he stopped the Boyle goal. The fringe Mayo players like Coen lacked composure on the night but they are coming. Mayo are gallant opponents and almost pulled off a great recovery, Galway will be under no illusions. Mayo will have a tough Connacht semi this year against the Rossies and if they get through it they will be tough. Otherwise, see ye in the glamorous FBD in Jan. and go easy on the pasta and meatballs in the Big Apple. Respect for Mayo but Gaillimh Abu"
Boyler was a bit unlucky with that effort, the wind held the ball up just enough for Flynn to get a paw around it. He was later lucky enough to stay on the pitch duing the last ten minutes, although his contact was as much down to the fact that he was totally knackered and mistimed his tackle, rather than having any bad intention. But he did get his hand into the Galway player's face and some refs would have shown a red. Time seems to have caught up with Boyler... he hasn't been fit for 70+ minutes for about 2 years now. Not sure what can be done about that... he's about 3 years younger than Andy, but has aged more in terms of fitness.

There is no shame in it, time waits for no man and This particular Mayo team have given us supporters great days but it hurts that we didn't win an All Ireland.

We will improve in the summer but enough to win an all Ireland? No is my honest assessment. We will be doing well to win a Connacht title. No McCormack, Plunkett, Donoghue, Diskin, Reape introduced very late. Matthew Ruane done well but more youth needs to be introduced for the remaining league games.

Galway have a very good squad now, younger team on an upward cure and very talented forwards. I still think Walsh is too defensive with the talent they have and can't see them winning Sam playing that way...the next manager after him may well do though."
Emotional post, I'm not saying you're wrong but what we've seen from Mayo in the league is what we see every year, what's changed you're mind from the other league campaign's when you've been just as bad or worst?

Replying To rhudson:  "While all the the talk about kerrys young team
and on the back of all those minor all Irelands they won
here in galway we have a lot of brilliant young players coming through
they are under the radar a bit as we didn't win minor all Irelands
but the u21 team all Ireland runner up v Dublin in 2017 is providing lots of players
that team took out Kerry < who had lot of minor winners >in the semi tthat year
interesting to note that Dublin team included comerford, o murchan, howard, gavin,o Callaghan now senior stars
on that galway team were sean andy Kelly, sean Kelly, peter cooke, michael daly, cillian mc daid, kieran molloy, cein darcy eoin finnerty ron finnerty
that's a great no of players to come of one team and among the most talented eve had in years
great credit is due to their coaches and clubs for all their good work over the years
very excited to see how our u20 team go under Padraig joyce
a talented group won have won Connacht minor titles and all Ireland runners up last year"
should read rob finnerty not ron
antoin o laoi was also on that panel too

The problem with mayo Imo is the players that they have relied on in Croke Park in summer are two years older and showing wear and tear. CoC is to come back but his form has also been on a downward slide. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they have anything coming through. Horgan has his work cut out, I'm not sure if they'll have the super 8.

What's changed is for the first time in some years Mayo can't point to their recent summer performance as compensation for a poor league. Mayo has a poor league last year, a poor championship and now another poor league. Mayo's entire form has slipped and they are simply, by any metric, no longer one of the top 3.

I know this will sound harsh to my Mayo friends, but it's not intended as such. And with Horan, a very capable manager, the team is in good hands for the rebuild.

Awful against the dubs in croke park.. who isnt
Poor yesterday but galway not much better. Tough conditions to be fair.
Think walsh bossed horan on the line.
AI dream is gone but they will defo be in the super 8s.

Yeah maybe you're right maybe this is the end , but after the rattles they've given us the last few years I'm not writing them off. Keegan is playing brutal stuff don't know what's up with him if he finds any form and with COC and Durkan to comeback I think they'll still be tough to beat. Like him or not COC is worth a minimum 5 points a game to Mayo.

That game could of easily went the other way at the end imo now in saying that Galway are missing some top players so their really going well right now.

To be fair Galway were a good bit better yesterday. That said Mayo ate well capable of beating anyone outside Dublin in one off game. Not sure if they can put it back to back though so while I would be very wary should we meet again i wouldn't be backing ye for AI.

Anyway we are all up against it trying to beat the Dubs!

Galway tactics changed slightly last night or maybe we just implemented our tactics better. We certainly moved the ball quicker and used the kick pass more and it suited our forwards.i hope this is a sign of things to come.
