Cant warm to her ... a bit finicky and tetchy. Never liked the way she asks the defeated manager after an All Ireland what their future is.

She's top class in my opinion. She has great knowledge on any subject she talks about. She won't be bullied or shouted down and I think she is a good Interviewer and can be quiet funny aswell.

I'm agree and even though I've previously said lets give her time I think for me it just boils down to not liking her style of interview/analysis/presenting. Just a personal preference perhaps. Then again I love listening to Brolly so what do I know!! ;)

Agree TrueBlue. I prefer the sort of analysis you`d get in the pub after a match rather than the forensic scrutiny you`d get in a courtroom (which is her style). Sport is about emotion .

Jesus thats a load of rubbish. You know a lot of talk in the pub is just shite talk and bluster so you would prefer that to detailed extensive analysis then.

So, if not Joanne, who should get the job?

She is not great to be honest..always has an infuriating habit on the radio of throwing in meaningless stats as if she is making some ground breaking revelation and interrupting those she is interviewing.
Having said that it's time somebody put brolly back in his box. Let's do the same to spillane when he starts spouting his meaningless stats

I agree with you. I would rather listen to bullsh*t in a pub than have to listen to it on RTE. Furthermore I think she was completely over the top with Brolly (who most of the time I may not disagree with). She is supposed to be a presenter and she should stick to that task and just because she has played football makes it no more irrelevant. She appeared obsessed with taking issue with everything that Brolly said which contributes little. My advice to her would be to relax.

The talk in the pub is just as relevant and in most case more precise/correct than what goes for analysis on tv- do you ever watch tv? Your 'extensive analysis' does not add up- the average guy in the pub analysing is away ahead of anything that I see on TV . Maybe your tv is better than mine!!

I thought it was odd that she was pushing her opinion on the 2 hurling lads about Kelly's red. they both gave their analysis and opinions that it shouldnt be red and she kept pushing against them. Not her place .

She's capable and has a good research team around her, but it's all down to personal preference. She just needs to remember it's not the "Joan Cantwell Show"
I'm sure she feels she has a lot to prove and she'd be absolutely right.

The stars aligned for her and she's more than fortunate in this age of gender quotas (regardless of justified experience) she's benefited greatly.

For me she's not there on merit and as such I'm not overly bowled over by her to date. She was a sideline interviewer (average at best) and from that she now has one of the most sought after sport broadcasting gigs that exists on Irish television.

Perhaps if they cleared them all out.. Brolly, Spillane, O'Rourke.. it might of been a much fresher looking product with JC hosting a new younger lineup and old grumbles and egos put to bed.

She won't be able to continually cut off Brolly and co. She's not going to put manners on him. She's obviously set out from the start to do that and reinforce her position but that's not really what this gig is. It's sports entertainment and not a current affairs show where you need a strong armed approach. That will get very boring very quickly.

All the best to her but would have much preferred Moloney getting the gig with a fresh new panel of former players.

Also..

RTÉ should be looking for intelligent and articulate former players who have a natural flare for broadcasting.

It doesn't matter how many medals they've acquired if they can't string a sentence together and look composed and at ease on air.

That's a problem at the moment within the current production. Not enough quality.
