Was chatting a Wexford man at the match yesterday and he said Galway are like the Man City of the hurling Championship with the squad they have which is the best squad by any County... OK 1/3 of our starting team hammered Wexford but I think he is overreacting a bit??

They are going well. It's going to be a better Leinster Championship this year . The semi v Limerick could be another great test for Dublin. It ll be a different type of game again. Crummy and Moran are awesome..some great talent. Suppose the semis will be a double header in Thurles...

Replying To Blackberry:  "The other 4 from last years final are Touhy, Hanbury, Glynn and Joseph cooney. 3 of them will be back. Also i think Fintan Burke from st. Thomas's will get a starting position at wing back."
How many of last year's team wil start Tuohy Glynn and Hanbury may not start while Flannery, Loftus and maybe 2 new forwards will start. My point is ye probably had 10/ 11 of your first team playing yesterday. Thanks blackberry at least you answered the question unlike the original poster who many a comment and as usual couldn't back it up. See ye in the final hopefully

After last years final there wont be a mad rush to get Tuohy and Hanbury back will there? They may regain their places but they wont improve things to any great degree on what is already there. Joseph Cooney is reported not to be available this year and Glynn, he has done a few good things in the jersey but has been anonymous in All Ireland finals.

Some of the kids on here (not including you in that) getting very excited over a good win for Galway yesterday that was not without its flaws.

Your right, Galway very poor at the back, flannery did not show confidence yesterday but we have to stick with him . Johnny cone and Connor Coney will take up back position this year me think. So far JC has been in the best form of his life. Cathal Mannion suited to midfield. Glennon will be in the forwards . Hanbury is a warrior, not a stylish hurler but gives everything for the jesery so I would see him having a influence this year

I'd agree poolsturgeon from a Limerick perspective if we were to meet in championship I'd love to see hanbury and tuohy return

Galway were poor in All Ireland, credit has to go to limerick who were deserving winners. To win a all Ireland you need luck and a fully fit team. Last year Galway had to overcome 2 replays play the final with a tired team, they gave away 2 very soft goals only played for 10 minutes yet all most won the all Ireland. In 2017 league SF Galway made light work of limerick. My point is hanbury/ touhy / D Burke / macinerney to name but a few had a bad day at the office but they also had good days and like the limerick panel most are holders of an all Ireland medal

Somehow I think the 2018 1B decider might have more relevance as to the standard between the two teams.

Heartbroken
Limerick were a young team. They had their a full back restricted by an injury from early in the game and he had to go off a full 30 minutes before the end and of course we played the last ten minutes without Ritchie English. So it not Galway alone whose performance was affected by injuries on final day.

I agree Limerick are a young team and they have made a statement with the way they have played in this year's league. It is very hard to win back to back All Ireland's . Limericks greatness will be proven or on proven when the championship starts in a few weeks. most other counties think limerick were lucky all Ireland winners especially counties Clare, cork and Kilkenny .

I'm calling you out. Show me the evidence for "Kilkenny " thinking Limerick were "lucky All Ireland winners"?

3 of the last 4 are from 1B. I don't know how I feel about the semis in Nowlan Park. Maybe Thurles would have been fairer for everyone.

Well we will see. However I do not know how other teams could hold the view Lk were that much luckier than other counties that won All Irelands in the past, especially those that won after long spells in the wilderness. I can go back to Waterford in 48, Wexford in 55, Cork in 66 and indeed Cork in 99, Galway in 80, Offaly in 81, Tipp in 99, Clare in 95 and indeed Galway in 17. However those teams all made their own luck and it would be churlish to elaborate on those arguments as the team that takes the cup should always be hailed as worthy champions. As Liam Griffin said in 96 'winners are winners and losers make excuses.'

KK would have been disappointed to draw with Galway in QF and in replay they were without Walter Walsh. So KK feel they should have been in all Ireland S/F . Clare kicking themselves as they were within a puck of a ball on both days in S/f . And of course cork will feel they took the foot of the gas and did not play to the final whistle

First of limerick are deserving All Ireland winners and are the best team in the country at the moment.

My post was a response to a limerick posters tongue and cheek remark that he would love to see hanbury and touhy in the Galway team the next time they met.

As I said Galway carried injuries into all Ireland final. The replays and early final date because of the popes visit all worked against Galway, but yes we lost and were beaten by a better team on the day.

To win a all Ireland you need luck and a fully fit team, talking to people around the panel Galway players were struggling for form no player on the panel were showing up in training so Galway management went with the 2017 team . Lessons to be learned for all teams if a player is not 100% he should not be on the pitch.
