some very good draws, the possibilities of donegal v tyrone, mayo v roscommon and carlow v meath are very interesting. isn't it a massive coincidence that kerry and Cork are on opposite sides of the draw 7 years in a row now.....

Nice, been ages since we played Wexford or Louth.

Be a trip down Wexford Park, or somewhere neutral if Louth hopefully not Portloaise again, Kilkenny woukd be decent, Tullamore maybe.

Longford Kildare could be a belter, tough call.

Kildare will be confident of a semi Vs Dublin on last year success all going according to plan, pity it's not in Newbridge. Hopefully we can get over that tricky hurdle.

Hopefully Meath can get to the final, but I'd say Carlow, Loais and Offaly may have a say on the opposite side of the draw.

Didn't realise it was 7 years, big coincidence alright, but Tipp should be favourites to beat Cork in any case .

Leinster is very lopsided with the top 3 teams on the same side, so the only hope of anyone giving Dublin any sort of a game will be at semi-final stage. You could make a case for nearly every team on other side to get through to the final.

Mayo vs Roscommon will be decent with the winners facing Galway.

Ulster is usual minefield with lots of potential close games and good teams on both sides. Difficult to predict finalists.

for all the nonsense thats talked about ulster football, it is the only provincial championship that has any sense of a championship feel about it...munster, leinster and connacht have seeded draws and we have the usual predictability as to who contests the latter stages of each province..

Jesus lads, can ye not google things no? It's not a coincidence - the Munster Championship is structured so that the teams that make the final get a bye the following year.

For a few years it went back to an open draw however, Limerick, Clare, Tipp and Waterford pressed for the older format (teams making the previous years final getting a bye) to be reinstated.

So if ye have any beef take it up with those counties...

I'm bored to be honest - combination of unfair structure and inevitable champ - what will ever solve both.
I can reduce my boredom by solving your little problem - chance of avoiding Cork v Kerry SF for 7 yrs in a row = 2/3 to the 7th power = 128/2187, which is less than 6%.
Conclusion - one more, and it looks rigged.

Ulster should be given greater AI Series representation given the greater depth in quality.
Extend 'front door' by one rd - only 2 unbeaten Prov Champs to the AI KO QFs (yes, revert to KO) - with losers in Prov SFs to 24-team Quals Rd 1 (8 groups of 3, top 2 in each advances); in Finals to 20-team Rd 2; and in Playoff Rd to 12-team Rd 3.
Ulster teams could be well present in the 12, from which 6 winners could emerge with AI QF berths.

Still - Dubs win 5-in-a-row -a less solvable problem!

Connacht doesn't have a seeded draw. Galway met Mayo in the Connacht quarter final year and before the final both previous years also. Roscommon were on the good side of the draw for the last 3 years.

Good draw for Tyrone. First home tie against Derry since 2006. Decent Ulster draw as well with the two local derbies Down v Armagh and Cavan v Monaghan standing out.

The Football draw was hard to watch, the interviewed players looked bored or beaten down, Mulligan of Leitrim admitted his team have no chance, Ciaran Whelan said you coulkd predict the finals right now (except possibly Tyrone or Donegal). How much longer do we have to put up with this garbage before somebody tears it up and starts again. I see the Clare manager today is calling for the provincials to be scrapped as well even though he admits nobody's listening.

At least for the Hurling draw (as limited as it is in terms of participation), I enjoyed Anthony Daly he was virtually bouncing out of his seat with excitment at the prospect of some of the games.

The usual negativity......not sure what people think the championship is supposed to fix in yer brains. In Connacht I think Roscommon have a great chance to reach the final and super 8's. Connacht could have 3 in the business end, exciting times out west.

Negativity is well deserved, awesome that you think a three county race is a competition in Connacht or one in Leinster or one in Munster, I'll give Ulster 3 as well although one of them will be gone in the preliminary round.

Why the GAA expects people to pay to see matches in a competition with a pre ordained outcome is beyond my comprehension but viewing figures would tend to back the message that people are fed up at this stage.

The problem with most GAA people is they complain things need to change.........................and then when you propose changes they complain you are changing.

:o) sounds about right, then again when your major problems are the provincial championship structure, the blanket defence and the black card rule and you propose a half dozen rule changes which only address one of these issues (the black card) you understand peoples frustration.

Hardly that many earth shattering surprises in the Ulster championship over the past 15 years.

I appreciate what you said there but over the last 50 years and longer a three horse race in any province would be considered normal. Hope to see Cavan back again.

Put dubs in there for a few years. And Leinster would be most competitive. Remember you needed the ref to overcome Meath this year.
