Have read some of this and the rules that I like that would help the game for all teams

Kick outs beyond the 45.
Reduce the subs to 3
Reduce the squads to 25 this give u a sub keeper and 3 players for each zone.
Once u enter the opposition's half u have to take a shot no passing back into your own have
Fouls against opposition like third man tackle pulling players back slowing counter attacks given an automatic 21 yards free

I think the semi finals in Croker are fine. I was at the Monaghan v Tyrone game and yes there was only 49k at it but there was a good enough atmosphere and there was no ticket scramble. Also some neutrals do fancy going to a semi final day in croker

The first round of the super 8's in croker was painful though. The atmosphere during the Monaghan v Kildare match was non-existent. The crowd (or lack of) was scattered because the crowd for match 2 were not in yet. Then most Monaghan and Kildare people left after half time in the 2nd game leaving an eerie feeling inside the ground.

Compare this to the following week. Clones for the Kerry match was one of the best atmospheres I have ever experienced at a GAA match. The Galway game over in Salthill was also a good atmosphere. I know there is the risk that this last match could be meaningless but these things happen. Bar a Dublin home match I would keep the super 8's out of Croker. Monaghan v Kildare could have been played in Navan, or Breffni Park (or anywhere else) as a single match in a neutral venue. It would create a sense of an occasion.

Replying To Cavan-Hero:  "10 min sin bin

High tackle rule to be reviewed.......Deliberate is a straight red, those where you tackle around the chest/shoulder, and player ducks or arm slips up is a yellow. From what I can see at games all over the country, every high tackle is a yellow.

Must have 3 or 4 inside opposition 45 at all times

13 a side is one I just cant have......there will still be blanket defences, and the game will revolve even more around fitness, and skill levels will suffer.

Second referee to help with the subtle basketball style screens and blocks....at intercounty level as a bare minimum

All umpires to be fullly qualified referees, at intercounty as a bare minimum.

Hawkeye....every county ground, or no county ground......not just Croke Park and Thurles....thats a farce"
No issues with any of your thoughts. It is obvious that nearly all of the posts are recognizing the same short comings in the game. Any combination of these would be an up grade. It does seem that all do not like the ball going backwards or flat across. Especially in the defensive zone.
We arrived at some of the existing rules under the umbrella of speeding the game up. Kicking out of the hand was the biggest one. However with the ball going backwards it has slowed down the game. Now it takes longer for the ball to be challenged again for. So what if placing the ball takes time. At least it will be challenged for straight away and much more skill in find a team. It is totally ridiculous watching a free taker walking around with the ball in his hand, changing the distance and angle of the free. The rules are supposed to stop this but when are they seen?

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "i hate it Mes.
I know i am in a minority of one when I say this and I know you and the other Dubs here will throw your eye's to heaven at this but in my humble opinion when I see Ciaran KK take possession 20 yards from an opponents goal, turn, run 20 yards backwards and handpass to a fella on the halfway line, a little bit of me dies
He did it a few times up in Omagh and it was so dispiriting
I dunno, i have fallen out of of love with football completely Mes
i hate what it has become. The game, for me, is dying and possibly already dead"
There is a reason why teams play the game the way they do. They have found out that kicking the ball in to the full forward line is a sure way of losing possession.

Why is this?

Defenders are constantly pulling and dragging off the ball and get away with it because officials are not implementing the rules.

If referees strictly police defenders and punish all foul play then defenders will learn that fouling doesn't pay. Forwards will then have a fair chance of winning ball that is kicked in and kicking will be a profitable way to attack.
