Come on it's getting a little stupid now. It started over Harte wanting a commentator reinstated and then escalating. Time the end this nonsense now. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 20/08/2018 13:12:40 2134715 Link 4 |

Look they have their gripe and wouldnt it be weird if they win and RTE are not allowed into the banquet and would a Tyrone player even accept the MOTM award. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 20/08/2018 13:29:39 2134737 Link 0 |
It was a wee bit more than that. tearintom (Wexford) - Posts: 1349 - 20/08/2018 13:36:15 2134747 Link 4 |
I think every county in Ulster should boycott RTE. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 2756 - 20/08/2018 13:40:11 2134750 Link 1 |
Can you remember why it escalated? Can you remember the piss poor attempt at an apology RTE gave? The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2088 - 20/08/2018 13:41:44 2134752 Link 0 |
RD that is not what it started over. I fully support Harte and Tyrone here.

Mickey Harte and Tyrone are 100% entitled to speak to whomever they wish to speak to Royaldunne. They are not obliged to speak to RTÉ. If someone mocked you in a way that referenced the tragic death of your daughter would you continue to speak to them Royaldunne? I know I wouldn't. If you behave crassly and foolishly they are consequences. RTÉ need to deal with that. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13717 - 20/08/2018 13:42:54 2134754 Link 5 |
I have commented on this topic on a few other threads now but I will comment again as it is something that I feel quite strongly about. I personally don't have a problem with Mickey Harte boycotting RTE and I totally respect his decision to do so but this extension to his players needs to stop now. I know that loads of people will come on here and point out that the players have not been instructed not to speak to RTE but how is any of the team going to put a face on them to talk to RTE if their manager, management team and fellow players don't. They may not have been explicitly told not to speak to RTE but obviously the pier group pressure restricts them from doing so. I am sure that during the year this is no issue for them but they are now in an All Ireland final, playing the best team ever. If they happen to beat this team then of course they will want the exposure and the plaudits that the televised evening reception presents. These are normal amateur sportsmen who might never get this chance again. Imagine playing the game of your life in the final and not getting the opportunity to receive the man of the match award live on TV, or imagine getting the player of the year award and not getting the chance to watch it over again. I think Mickey needs to back down on this one for the sake of his players. He doesn't need to take part himself but if he doesn't allow his team then it is a purely selfish move. Also it should also be noted that it does not seem to bother any of his players once they leave the panel. Look at the amount of ex Tyrone players taking part in the Sunday game since. Sean Cavanagh, Brian McGuigan, Ricey and Philip Jordon to name a few. Wally (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 20/08/2018 13:50:24 2134759 Link 1 |
Typical of a Meath man. No back bone. This is one thing I agree with Harte on. RTE have constantly run Tyrone down over a number of years. I hope Tyrone win just to wipe the sly smirks of the D4 faces. Up Tyrone.

Would not be bothered one bit if nobody from Tyrone GAA ever spoke to them again. A pure shower of w---- and I'm totally behind Mickey in his desire not to speak with them. Doesn't bother me one bit. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 20/08/2018 13:56:08 2134764 Link 3 |
Get your facts right. That's not why it started

That's all ex players so wont make the slightest difference. It's current players and management that aren't talking to RTE. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 20/08/2018 14:00:08 2134770 Link 0 |
Why would up for the match be an issue ?? It's ex players that go on it, fans etc. No current management teams or players are on it. Mickey Harte and his current players and management give rte the cold shoulder, not the fans or ex players as Bryan mcguigan and Sean cavanagh an attest to
