What dinosaurs is he referring too? The men and women who put a lifetime of voluntary work into their clubs and counties?

Not irrelevant at all......you branding people anti soccer for having a different view in this, I'm pointing out that many aren't anti soccer at all and attend games in Scotland etc quite frequently but we aren't prepared to allow the anti gaa brigade make a crusade out of this without pointing out some alternative facts.......I remember Liam miller from his time at Celtic indeed was there to watch him on numerous occasions so I have every sympathy for the plight his family is in but I find it hard to stomach people like Duff who were paid to play for country (some sense of honour that) and are multi millionaires pontificating to a community based organisation like the GAA"

Irrelevant because some people in the GAA were going out of their way to avoid letting then have Pairc Ui Chaoimh for this game. Rather than be charitable and give support and bend some rules they hired solicitors to prove a point. No-one can disagree that the FAI is a dodgy organisation. Probably Duff himself would have plenty to say about the FAI and how they treat the League he coaches in. What could and should have been done by the FAI is down to them. But had they a 15K stadium in Cork it'd be a white elephant and these game organiser's would still look for the biggest venue in Cork. Apologies to yourself and anyone else I've offended about this but it's making me pure thick. It's doing the GAA image no favours but I disagree with Duff in that the game should go ahead and will put the GAA in a better light.

Probably! they are easy targets even our own have a dig at them. Then again when you form your opinion of an organisation based on the way your own is run you do tend to be ill-informed and that is about the most charitable thing you can say about Duff and his like.

Not for one second giving any credence to Duff or his mouthing off. However you know and everyone else knows he is not talking about the voluntary workers at grass root level but the well paid upper executives. The professionals in an amateur sport who constantly behave in an amateur way. At amateur level when an issue occurs Joe has to call a meeting for Tuesday night but MIck and Pat cannot make it because they are WORKING on the back shift so it will have to be next week as there are games on at the weekend.
These full time officials seem to shoot from the hip before they know the rule been applied. Then they have to walk it back and be told by an amateur voluntary person they have got it wrong. Surely the GAA have a public relation officer that
can judge and give input to what they are about to release and its possible blow back. As full time officials they should know the rules and have the time to get it right. Just one example for now. KIdaregate. They made the rule on home games. Then tried to change it. Former big names officials issuing warnings (bully tactics) and at the end of the day had to swallow their own vomit.

Maybe we should also compare the amount of money the GAA raises year in and year out for charity.....don't see people shouting about it.

I thought the GAA should have agreed to open PUC on one condition :

Not one poxy soccer player gets expenses or appearance money!! All the monies to go to charity, bar admin costs.

Every year they pick up to 5 charities and donate money plus help them raise awareness.

And there is much more at provincial and county level.

In Parnell Park you pay whatever you want for the programs for club games and the money is donated to charity.

And so on.

But you never hear of this......put some Premier League numpty donate's a days wages etc we know all about it.

Typical of this debate, not dealing in facts and allowing emotion to frame the debate.....nobody in gaa circles doesn't have smypathy for the Miller family or want to help but there are ways to doing these things not the megaphone diplomacy engaged in by a few mercenaries in recent days......why doesn't Damian Duff gift the money he took through the years for representing his country to the charity if he is so sincere?

The GAA have handled this appallingly and no amount of deflection and whataboutery changes that fact.

Yous can moan all you like about Duff or the FAI or whatever but it doesn't change the fact that the GAA are still yet to do the right and easy thing.

The GAA deserve all the criticism they are currently receiving through the sheer stupidity of its actions thus far.
