Cork V Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Who is going to win this one. I'd love to see my neighbours get into the super 8 if it's only to see the Dubs in Omagh or Clones in a few weeks from now. I would be afraid of Cork though.

Cork tend to freeze and underperform v Kerry. They have no such inhibitions v Tyrone. I don't think they've ever lost a championship match to Tyrone. Predict a close game with Cork likely to prevail.

Cork to win this. Tyrone are poor and wooden and Harte won't change his tactics. Cork to play through Tyrone, cut them open and put the scores on the board.

Great prize for the winners. Tyrone have not been playing well and they do not have the marquee forwards they once had but they are creating goal chances and hopefully sooner or later some will be taken. Can Cork recover from that beating and turn in a performance like last year against Mayo. Have to hope the experienced division one team will win out over a team that has played division two for the last while. Tyrone to win narrowly.

They have played twice in championship in 1973 and 2009 so this talk of Tyrone never have beaten cork or cork having the upper hand is rubbish, cork have had big physical direct players who have caused bother in league games in the past for Tyrone, this appears to be a weaker side though; based on form I Hope Tyrone can edge this one.

If Tyrone are to get a spell in super 8's they will need a few players back; Bradley is on the bench;Lee Brennan is almost there but they don't want to risk a recurrence; can't understand why Rory Brennan is being frozen out. Anyone know how DD Mulgrew is progressing his 8 weeks recovery must almost be up; if we can get him back it would be massive I think he would thrive on the big games in the super 8's should we make it

Cork exile here. Cork football is in the doldrums. This team doesn't even have the same physicality
as previous teams and not as much football either. Tyrone too structured and well set up to be beaten
by a division 2 team that didn't even challenge to get promotion. Was at that 73 match. Back then we had raw
football talent and speed with Jimmy Barry, Declan Barron (one of the best midfielders ) and some other greats.

Should Tyrone win, why on earth would they agree to play the match in Clones, especially after that last few weeks' shenanigans?

Was at that game in the rain as well. The Cork team of 1973 were great to watch I think they slammed five goals past Kerry, five past Tyrone and three past Galway in the final.

Two teams that are not very impressive. I'd be wary of Cork getting to the super 8's as I don't think they'd be competitive.

However, whilst Tyrone are very structured they don't really have enough in terms of quality of footballers especially in the forward line.

You'd have to say they are favourites to beat Cork, but would not fancy them in the Super 8's.

A good result would be a narrow defeat. Something like we had last year v Mayo. The players can come out and say they are real battlers and there is hope going forward. Something like we had last year v Mayo. There will be plenty from Tyrone there tomorrow and about 20 Cork people. We will get a lecture from certain quarters about not supporting the team and they deserve better. Something like we had last year v Mayo. Then it will all be forgotten about and we get back to hurling. Something like we had last....

Nobody in Cork expects Cork to win this. It's not just Kerry which are the problem for Cork any more. They lost more games in the league than they won and looked more like being relegated than being promoted.. No one in Munster fears Cork any more. Even Waterford would fancy their chances. Hopefully improvements are being made under the present management, but I simply can't see them living with Tyrone this year.

Crowd wise. Tyrone love Clones. Clones holds 32 thousand.

Watched Tyrone boarding a bus this evening in monaghan and they weren't too worried looking. Some tall enough lads. All in great shape. Think there's a big game in them.

tyrone to win by 7-8 points. cork have been poor all year, and while there may well be a performance in them, tyrone should come through this one ok

Two poor teams, whichever makes it through to super 8 will be well beat by Dubs and Donegal. Alot of complaining about Tyrone's negative system but they don't have the quality to play like the Dubs or Kerry or Mayo or Donegal. But they are horrible to watch, so boring. Even when winning Ulster last year, boring, boring. But it's the way football has gone, boring. Paint by numbers, everybody doing the exact same thing, over and over for 70 minutes. So it's not just Cork supporters suffering serious apathy towards county team, alot of Tyrone people couldn't care whether team win or lose tomorrow. But at least Cork have hurling to follow. All we in Tyrone will have to shout for is whoever England play in world cup.

What a load of cr@p. Maybe you should have read what the present Cork manager thinks of the style Tyrone play instead of listening to the naysayers and begrudgers like Brolly etc. The best team in Ireland at counter attacking at pace and turning teams over etc,is his opinion on this Tyrone team. I'm not saying they're the best in the country but they are a good team and can and I hope will do better. But sure you keep being a sheep and we'll cheer the lads on regardless. Some of you Tyrone boys forget when we were grateful for Ulster championship success never mind all Ireland's. Now 2 Ulsters in a row is a poor showing. Wise up is what yez need to do.
