Should Dublin demand to play all their home games in Parnell Park from here on? jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 27/06/2018 21:43:24 2116163 Link 5 |
Won't happen and I don't think anybody really wants that. The Donegal game should be in Clones imo or if happened to be Kerry for example it should be in Semole. joeteor (Donegal) - Posts: 218 - 27/06/2018 22:05:02 2116175 Link 0 |

I think you're wrong there I think many GAA people don't want Dublin's home games in CP. Regardless of the exposure and financial benefits I'd much prefer them being in PP It would become a fortress with Dub season ticket holders and Parnell pass holders making up the vast % of supporters Why should Dublin be the cash cow for the organisation.. when it's so badly received . Sod rival fans getting tickets. Sod the Leinster council wanting Dublin in Croke Park to bolster their coffers every year.. Why can't all our home games be in PP Sod the massive revenue lost. Feck then money men in CP and Leinster council.. feck then dictators making Dublin play all their games in Croke Park for financial gain. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 27/06/2018 22:42:45 2116205 Link 3 |
Croke Park is a fortress anyway, have they lost there since Donegal in 2014? Fair enough about your other points. joeteor (Donegal) - Posts: 218 - 27/06/2018 23:14:59 2116220 Link 0 |

I want the dubs out of crokepark, crokepark belongs to all of us not just the dubs, also i want them traveling the country like the rest of us, I want them getting the same money as the rest of us , also I want more games in provincial venues, taking ourselves and Galway to crokepark for our neutral venue is a total joke putting the teams and supporters under financial pressure when the game should be on in limerick or Thurles.

If Dublin want to play their home games there then absolutely. The only problem there would be a huge outcry from the massive amount of Dublin fans who would be locked out of games. It would seem totally nonsensical to me exclude a huge number of your fan base (even if a lot of them are of the more casual variety) and also exclude a huge amount of youngsters who would be the next generation of Dublin supporters. But nonetheless if they wanted to proceed down that crazy road they should be fully entitled to. the_walls (Mayo) - Posts: 495 - 28/06/2018 08:35:28 2116282 Link 0 |
Dublin could be playing all their home league matches in Parnell Park but they are not and that is of their choosing, they rent Croke Park for home league matches, no one is forcing them to play there during the league it's their own call, as per Philly McMahon in the Indo; "When Dublin use Croke Park as a home venue, they rent it, so anyone can rent it. It's up to their counties to rent it if they want. "It's not as if we're getting something that nobody else can get. "If other counties want to rent Croke Park, they can rent it. Now quite possibly they pay a rent to use it as a home venue in Leinster as well I'm not sure but what a one dimensional view by Philly, he goes on to state; "Just for us with the fans that we have it probably makes more sense to put it in Croke Park. "It's very important that if we have a good fan base... we already have an issue when we get to All-Ireland finals that there are so many fans that go to all the games that miss the All-Ireland finals. "So for us to play games in Croke Park, it's a no-brainer. Why would you play in a smaller venue, and not facilitate your fans? Ok Philly we keep the Dubs fans happy and to hell with the rest is it? In my humble opinion this is a blinkered view of things, one has to look at the bigger picture. Why is so much much money being paid to "rent" Croke Park that could be used to further invest in games development or towards the development of a suitable home ground for Dublin? Why is the GAA allowing one county to rent Croke Park so frequently and call it their de facto home instead of looking for them to develop their own home venue? As for other counties renting Croke Park well that is a silly remark, why would other counties rent Croker and drag their supporters up to Dublin for a league match or a Leinster quarter final putting expense on people and depriving their home patch of income, and if Philly thinks other county boards could even afford to rent Croker then he is off his head so it's not the case that Dublin are getting something that everyone can get, Philly is wrong on that one but then again a lot of people are wrong when it comes to this situation. Forced?? Dublin County Board and GAA HQ in 2009/2010 agreed to a mutually beneficial agreeement where Dublin would play their league games in Croke Park - no one had a gun to their head. With regard to the Leinster championship Dublin have had a number of chances to vote to move out of Croker over the last few years so clearly the Dublin County Board are happy with the current arrangement. This has worked out pretty well for both sides so far - more money for HQ and more success for the Dubs which is obviously in some small way caused by playing "at home" in Croker all the time. razor425 (Roscommon) - Posts: 45 - 28/06/2018 09:41:27 2116296 Link 1 |

The 2 previous ones were 11-1 with only the proposing county voting in favour - yes that means the games would still be in Croker but it also means that 1. Dublin have had a number of chances to vote to move away from Croker and 2. They have chosen to vote to stay there. My original point was probably poorly worded - "Dublin have had a number of chances to vote to move out of Croker" - the fact it wouldn't have passed is irrelevant.
