That was a bit like my shocked reaction in 2002 and beyond regarding a scandal regarding a totally different respected and major national institution - if you follow my cryptic line ! Shocked beyond 'belief'. omahant (USA) - Posts: 2621 - 25/06/2018 21:14:44 2114977 Link 0 |
Just heard Liam Brady explain why Ronaldo was not sent off this evening against Iran "They (FIFA) want the big teams in the tournament". Same does for the GAA, they are prepared to anything to achieve that. Independent12 (Carlow) - Posts: 20 - 25/06/2018 21:21:30 2114985 Link 2 |
That would explain the penalty not given to Meath. We will even let that one down to mistakes by ref. But the blatant push on the back on Meath player at end of game and for ref to Clearly see in a totally unhindered view , and to not give it. Tyrone are bigger box office than Meath these days. Rigged.

Let's just say that there have been more than a couple of dodgy coincidences. And if you think it's not possible to rig a draw you would be very naive. jonno (Kildare) - Posts: 260 - 25/06/2018 21:33:13 2114993 Link 1 |
You hear or cool certain balls. I mean Platini spoke a few weeks ago about how they fixed the World Cup draw in 98, how can you think it's so unlikely.

But there is clear evidence it wasn't a penalty. Everyone seen the slow mo and the foul was outside the box. It was a free for Meath at the end but the free Meath got to go 1 up wasn't a free. Really is time to build a bridge Royal. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2088 - 25/06/2018 21:49:06 2115010 Link 1 |
Can't see it been rigged to be honest. As someone said the amount of people involved in the draw, from the production team on RTE to the GAA, to the presenters, someone would bound to leak it. I just can't see it. I mean Tyrone Cavan wouldn't be that well attended. Would they not have paired Mayo and Monaghan and Tyrone and Armagh? Rigged qualifiers? bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1792 - 25/06/2018 21:53:55 2115013 Link 0 |
Maybe it was out of sympathy for harte that the ref did it. But he made sure Tyrone won unfairly. As for building bridges? Yeah come back to me when u get over 96. Whingers. The great? My ass. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 25/06/2018 22:00:29 2115018 Link 0 |
Give it a rest rd this thread has nothing got to do with that game! The gaa is in disarray we need proper football and hurling men that have been involved with teams in recent years to run the organisation

I responded, perhaps you don't think that game was rigged, that's your right. I however do think it was. And is relevant.

Talk us through rigged draws in the Munster SFC - that cosy arrangement which means Kerry end up practically vaccinated against provincial quarter final appearances. Whatever you think about the qualifiers, at least each team that should be there starts out in the same hat. Knoxboya (Monaghan) - Posts: 358 - 25/06/2018 22:14:15 2115037 Link 1 |
It is quite easy to rig a draw. Easier again to do it on radio. Follow the money if you want likelihood. You will never be able to prove it though. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 25/06/2018 22:35:07 2115054 Link 0 |
Sympathy for Mickey Harte? Has to be the most ridiculous statement ever made. I actually feel sorry for you Royal

Follow the money. Mate, there's not much money in the GAA. Honestly how much extra money is to be made from fixing the draw. It's not unlikely at all that Mayo, Tyrone and Monaghan would all be kept apart. The chance of Mayo playing Tyrone or Monaghan in an open 8 team draw is 2/7. In the 5/7 of the time that Mayo don't play Tyrone or Monaghan. Tyrone and Monaghan will only play one another 1 in 5 times. So 5/7 by 4/5 times none of the 3 of them play each other. 4/7 fair draws will not have a pairing featuring Tyrone, Monaghan or Mayo against one another. Yet fix. Right. Catch a grip. Heat and freeze the capsules. If you want Cavan and Kildare to be drawn out first against Tyrone or Mayo you put the Cavan and Kildare capsules in the freezer overnight. Put the other two into boiling water before the draw. Boom you've got it sorted.

If you think there is not much money in the GAA you need to reassess your opinion.

You know the GAA as an organisation are in serious trouble going forward when this level of distrust exists within it among the ordinary members. Widespread distrust is the deathknell of any organisation in the long term. They bring a lot of it on themselves of course by, for instance, changing competition rules whimsically and unjustly insisting that Kildare surrender home venue to Mayo and must play the game in Croke Park. I understand why the conspiracy theories have started but it is absolutely preposterous. Suddenly feels like I've woken up in Trump's America with paranoia and suspicion taking over. If the GAA were really as nefarious as is being made out, surely they could have easily rigged the draw so that Kidare and Cavan were playing away and they could have avoided all this Newbridgegate hassle.
