Dublin V Laois

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Thoughts on a Novel Leinster final pairing ...

Its a few years since Laois got there they are not the force they once were but always seem to give dublin a game up until twenty minutes to go ...

They play a nice brand of football and have some decent forwards but surely Division 4 v div 1 will mean only one outcome?

Looking forward to seeing an open game if nothing else!

Romp in the park to be honest. We can talk it up as much we want but it is simply a stepping stone for us to the Super 8s.

Laois have gone back a lot even at underage were before they were always a threat to Dublin but not now....and no it has nothing to do with money.

Laois have done very well to get to the Leinster final. Their players and management deserve plenty of credit but I'd be surprised to see them get within 10 points of Dublin.

I'd like to see Basquel start for Dublin and give him his debut Leinster final start. Also be great seeing Howard and Comeford get their first LF starts for Dublin

We could easily see 3 LF virgins get the nod for Dublin, def a transition in process and great to see many young Dubs get the chance.

Comeford, Lowndes, Scully, Howard, O'Callaghan, Basquel.. could all possibly start

It's a very different looking Dubs team but with a great mix of seasoned AI winners and young lads

Hopefully see McCaffrey and O'Sullivan back getting game time

If Dublin put on blindfolds and hop on one leg it may even it up as a contest.

Am hoping for a big test at the back to be honest, loads of high balls in please and for the back six to get a stretch, also a game to test young Evan with push ups on kickouts, high balls, one on ones, Laois will have earmarked him to be tested without doubt. Hopefully Jack and Cian will get more minutes.

Always a pleasure to watch Ross Munnelly and Donnie Kingston play.

Patronising guff. The only 'big test' Dublin will get is if they put chairs and desks on the field and give them Leaving Cert papers to do.

This is a pointless exercise.

Dublin will win by 18-20 points

... at least Laois won't concede the game though unlike some...

Of course it will be an easy win for Dublin but quite a few who look down their nose at Leinster are from counties who get a tonking themselves from Dublin when they have to face them.

I think I'd be surprised if we are beaten all right, but I hope the defense and young Evan are tested I don't think it's been patronizing saying that. You clearly don't watch a lot of Leinster football, those of us down in Nowlan Park will know the performence Callihane and Kingston that day and the got the better of our defense in my opinion, can't remember another team scoring that much against us since, brought the defense on no end that year. Equally I'm a huge fan of Ross Munnelly purely as a football fan.

Laois have good forwards but won't have played at a pace like this for a few years where the life will be squeezed out of them.

I can only predict a handsome Dublin win but then again the beauty of sport is its upsets it brings every so often .

This would be up there with the biggest ever!

Ok i'm not stirring or wishing to commence a player/county bashing - was Johnny Cooper cited for the punch thrown on the Longford in the semi final?

Not sure what's happening in the background

But if he's not he should have been.

It was intentional as such should have got a 1 game ban

Inclined to agree esp considering the reds in the hurling last weekend - ref was in with umpires and talking into a mic - who was he talking to?.

He might just end up as captain for Dublin in the upcoming Leinster final

Ive seen it mentioned on the Dubs forum that he's the current vice captain (I'm not sure if that's true or not)

But if it is true and Cluxton isn't ready and over his injury in time.. if Cooper is free to play he'll more than likely be walking up the steps to lift a nice chunk of silverware

No interest in this or the Munster final, Dublin and Kerry will walk both games, Connaught final was competitive because Galway played below par, God knows what the Ulster final will be like, probably a borefest with 14 Fermanagh men defending and trying to keep in the game, super 8's is the only show in town now, provincial championships are a bit past it.
