I think Hawk-eye is a bit of a problem. It is a great benefit but needs to be rolled out in all county grounds or restrict it's use until All Ireland Semi Finals. It is unfair that say next week, Clare or Tipp may benefit from a hawk-eye intervention because the match is in thurles whereas Waterford or Limerick Waterford may lose out on a score or have a score given incorrectly because the match is in Limerick. Restrict use until All Irland semi and at least it is a level playing field KK4Life (Kilkenny) - Posts: 56 - 05/06/2018 11:14:27 2107611 Link 0 |
Exactly. The game in Thurles is going to be played under different rules. If reviewing a score in one venue and not in another is not a different rule what is ?

I understand where you are coming from. If its use was restricted to the All Ireland semi final stage then that would mean only Croke Park would need it. If is an expensive technology AFAIK and it certainly wouldn't make any sense having it in other grounds if they were only going to use it once per year.

Hawkeye should be continued to be rolled out across the grounds, particuarly all the Munster and Leinster grounds given the succesful advent of the round robin system but another way is a video referee, either way something has to be done, the GAA has not learnt from past mistakes and errors like last Sunday can not be allowed decide results at this level, Waterford have hsd a poxy enough year without having to deal with the liked of this.... Yeah. The main point I am making is the referee was awful again on Sunday . Neither team was happy with him. Tipp players were cynically brought down about three times in the closing stages and Brick was the only one to see yellow. I'm not sure if Gleeson's warranted a red card but it definitely deserved yellow. Cahill's tackle for the second yellow was harmless in comparison to the three Waterford tackles. I'm not criticising the Waterford players, you do what you gor to do to protect a lead. It's the referee and his lack of consistency is the issue. Favoured or not. The officials have kept Tipp in the competition this year.

Then you are restricted to only playing games in the grounds that have the technology. Again you can not have different rules in the same competition and for different teams. Reviewing scores for some games and not others is a different rule. Last Sunday was deemed human error. What happens if corruption is the reason a score is given or not ? They should be turned off straight away until equality is achieved for all.
