Don't understand how the umpires could have gotten that so wrong. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 03/06/2018 17:25:45 2106882 Link 6 |

And now to top it off, The same bloody umpire waves a tipp point wide only for the ref to over rule him.... waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 03/06/2018 17:34:15 2106893 Link 1 |

If the umpire isn't 100% sure then he should stay out of it. carlovia (None) - Posts: 1517 - 03/06/2018 17:53:36 2106910 Link 0 |
How do you become an umpire? Do they have training and have to pass tests? Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2478 - 03/06/2018 17:54:53 2106915 Link 0 |
Of course it can be explained, the big decisions ALWAYS go against the underdog, it has happened since referees blew a whistle and will continue to happen until perhaps accessors reports are published and even then ranks will probably remain closed. Stinking. He could over rule him on a point but took no action on the goal.

Yeah shocking decision and for me the ref kept Tipp in it the 2nd half with some very soft frees even the free at the end I thought wasn't a free. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 03/06/2018 18:08:00 2106930 Link 1 |
The ref couldn't have seen it from where he was.. If there is any doubt between the two umpires it shouldn't have been given in my view.

In fairness to the referee he had a good view of the point but could not have known if the ball was over the goal line or not before Gleeson caught it the second time. It was a very bad call by the umpire. Westfester (Limerick) - Posts: 944 - 03/06/2018 18:13:12 2106939 Link 0 |
Every team at some point benefits from a dodgy ref decision. It's part of the game. But there's something about a score being incorrectly given or not given that I find especially galling. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 03/06/2018 18:14:11 2106941 Link 0 |
It wasn't called by the umpire nearest the ball it was the guy on the far side, mad call a huge bearing on the munster championship - incredible. Some dodgy wides/points called throughout but hard to take this result. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4898 - 03/06/2018 18:16:05 2106943 Link 0 |
I was just about to make that point, it would have been a good point but probably waved wide. Why did the umpire at the far post make this call? Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 03/06/2018 18:20:00 2106949 Link 0 |
You've answered you're own question. They'd have won except for the decision. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 03/06/2018 18:30:15 2106961 Link 0 |
Terrible decision for the Tipp goal, terrible referee and umpires who were worse if possible. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 03/06/2018 18:36:39 2106965 Link 0 |
Decision could have huge ramifications. Tipp were out of the All Ireland race but thIs call could change their entire season. corkcelt (Cork) - Posts: 4388 - 03/06/2018 18:49:24 2106977 Link 2 |
