Yerra, something needs to be done about Kerrys dominance, particularly in Munster. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12122 - 31/01/2018 13:46:12 2072778 Link 7 |

Its a valid point. Dublins dominance of Leinster is regularly used as a point to show how their dominance has been bad for the game. Yet Kerrys Munster dominance, 16 titles out of the last 25 and currently unbeaten in Munster in 6 years seems largely forgotten. How come? keithlemon (Australia) - Posts: 920 - 31/01/2018 14:33:58 2072798 Link 4 |
There's about as much chance of Kildare and Laois joining together as there is of Sinn Fein and the DUP joining forces.

So since the introduction of games development grants Dublin have received €16m. The county who have received the most after Dublin is Cork at €1m. Are these figures correct?- one understands the importance of urban GAA with the growth of Leinster rugby. But come on is it time the GAA looked at these grants? sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 31/01/2018 15:13:21 2072814 Link 2 |
How about not merging counties as the All Ireland Championship is inter county, not inter county and a few smaller counties merged together, because GAA top brass don't care.

Yeah it's as valid as every whiney post yourself and thehermit make about Dublin in every thread. That was the point.

It sure Is a valid point in 97 years only once has the Munster championship been won from a team other than Kerry and cork and I think that was 1923!!! With Kerry winning something in the region of 70 in the same period. KERRY were on on the pigs back for 100 years playing 2 games in a hurling province got them to a semi final they win all Ireland's playing 4 games!!! There was no bleeting from the aristocrats then when the system is completely stacked in there favour.

No one has mentioned the games development figures released today Dublin games development allocation is down by 200k. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 31/01/2018 15:58:53 2072829 Link 3 |
There was "bleating " actually just as there was when Kilkenny were playing 4 games to win a hurling All Ireland but that's a different argument and if you don't mind me saying, an exercise in deflection . It's a championship structure argument, what people are talking about on here is a funding imbalance argument and the reason why Dublin were given multiples of the funding other counties received. You can't change geography too easily but you can change how we level out the funding playing field.

It's a football province bar the big 2 and Cork are in a lull period and Tipperary deserve respect for what they have achieved in the big ball the last decade or so Whereas Leinster was a Football province with 5/6 strong teams playing attractive Football in front of huge crowds until the GAA distorted the landscape by injecting enormous sums of €€€€ one way and destroying a very vibrant and interesting competition for the neutral Sadly the same will (and is already happening) on a national scale and the GAA are continuing to keep their heads in the sand........................... 37thHeaven (Kerry) - Posts: 102 - 31/01/2018 18:34:54 2072869 Link 1 |

Professor Niall Moyna is really only talking about football as Hurling/Camogie are alien sports and pay second fiddle in scholarships in his football only head. No time for him or what he has to say given the way he operates in DCU. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4898 - 31/01/2018 19:03:41 2072875 Link 2 |
