Kildare cost me just over 1, 100 in 2 separate accums one for 10 euro the other 15.....safe to say not my fav team at this moment in time. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2782 - 04/02/2018 23:27:17 2074122 Link 0 |
There were 2 separate occasions today when Kildare had very scoreable 30 yard frees in front of the posts and played them short to try and work a goal! We couldn't believe it in the stand! Such a waste. Both chances came to nothing. RightFull (Monaghan) - Posts: 74 - 05/02/2018 00:06:26 2074132 Link 0 |
Don't even think we were trying to work a goal. I think it was more to do with a lack of confidence that was flowing through us at the time. You won't get away with that stuff in Div 1. To the guy who lost the money on us, you obviously haven't looked at the history of Kildare football!:) kildare73 (Kildare) - Posts: 854 - 05/02/2018 10:24:01 2074179 Link 0 |
I have to say that one really hurt. Was there for the taking & we threw it away. Shame Ben McCormack went off injured as he was causing Monaghan loads of trouble....but other than that, it wasn't bad luck. Just a lack of composure on our part & a fair bit on Monaghan's part. They kept their heads when we didn't & deserved to win because of that. KildareKelly (Kildare) - Posts: 593 - 05/02/2018 10:36:15 2074183 Link 0 |
Yeah and Paul Cribbin scoring 3 points in the first half and taking a stupid black card on the half way line with 9 or 10 lads already back to defend! Think he would have made a difference in last 10 minutes.

Interesting to read that Kildare haven't won a game since beating Meath in last years Leinster semi final, in all competitions played 6 lost 6. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 05/02/2018 19:34:00 2074425 Link 0 |
And there you have Kildare football in a nutshell. Gives you some idea how frustrating it is supporting them. It really is incredible that an intercounty footballer wouldn't put a free over the bar from 30 yards on the smallest, narrowest pitch in the country when it would be routine for a junior player from a normal county. Missing frees is bad enough but it's time to pull a team out of any competition when the players stop even attempting them. It would put that team out of their misery. Let them go off and enjoy life because there is no point wasting your time not being competitive. Daith (Kildare) - Posts: 1171 - 05/02/2018 20:54:06 2074442 Link 0 |
Kildare playing like a division 2 team at the moment..unless they get their act together and stop kicking stupid wides they'll be back down in division 2 with the likes of meath.. GGdub (Dublin) - Posts: 260 - 05/02/2018 22:20:26 2074461 Link 1 |
Actually arguably played better against Dublin than against Monaghan but you're right, we are playing like a div 2 team and it ain't going to wash at this level.

I'd love to see Meath come up, and watch them take a few unmerciful beatings :D realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8592 - 06/02/2018 02:38:41 2074487 Link 2 |
I don't get why the whole country still hates us I remember the late 80s and 90s very well when we were quite a dominant team that time and I could understand why we were disliked then but lads come on we have not been really competitive in years give us a break. div 1 would be very tough for us no doubt but I would be delighted to get up there and give it a good go we might come straight back down but we might surprise a few and stay there for a few years who knows. we have been very unlucky not to be promoted to div 1 in last few years maybe this will be our year maybe it wont but I will give you some advice realdub enjoy your success at the moment because it wont last forever even tho at the moment you might think it will I can tell you it wont I for 1 cant wait for the great dubs to fall because it will happen and maybe happen sooner than you might think and maybe we be saying in a few years we would love to see the dubs come up to div 1 and get a few hammerings you just never know what can happen

Oh for crying out loud, how old are you? I come from a time when it was MY job to detest the royals as you wouldn't be a true blue otherwise. It's s bit of fun and totally football team related as I have some great friends who are fanatic Meath fans. You think I don't know our success will have an end point? Just hope for your sake that Meath's success has a 'start' point. Then you can give it to me, but I'll be able to take it! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8592 - 06/02/2018 16:46:39 2074617 Link 3 |
