AOS - A passenger who cost Mayo All Irelands - Brolly

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I can see where Brolly is coming from on this one.

I'd like to see AOS in midfield though. He gave a masterclass in fielding their against Donegal in the 2013 quarter final.

The problem is Mayo have only one forward. If you move AOS back you have to start someone like Evan Regan.

100% not a Brolly fan.

Also 100% of the belief AOS is a very ordinary player."
That's your opinion your entitled to it but it shows your knowledge of football. Maybe your opinion is swayed by reading articles in the papers who knows. Aiden O'shea is a good player, if he wasn't there with mayo we wouldn't compete with the likes of Dublin. He is well able to play football but there are times when he could do with not holding on to possession and pass to his teammates. If he was a very ordinary player he wouldn't be playing inter county well maybe for another county

100%. Midfield is his best position. Up to management after that to sort out the forwards or who will get scores. But Stephen Rochford is the boss and he's doing a good job.

Hilarious article, admits he had a super first 50 but says it didn't matter. Such nonsense. His display in the first half was probably the main reason we dominated the middle and were in a great position.

Has he got a couple of questionable All Stars? Yes

Does he run out of steam mate on? Yes

Are there enough players of better quality which mean he should be left out? No

Hilarious the amount of abuse this lad gets to be honest. He has been poor on big days but he has also been superb on big days. Such an easy target for attention seekers like Brolly.

Brolly is 100% wrong here. Mayo wouldn't have even got to Croke Park last year without AOS, he put in some amazing performances in the qualifier run last year. He had a great All-Ireland semi final replay and played well in the All-Ireland final replay as well. He is also being played out of position in the forward line as midfield is his best position.

You have to admire Joe in a way. He sits down in a quiet week and thinks "what kind of sh**e can I come up with that will cause a little controversy and make myself appear relevent". Hmmm what if I write that big Aido is a totally overated waste of space. That should get the usual suspects with an agenda, and who know no better, agreeing with me and rile the long suffering Mayo folk. Sounds like a plan,........ and it works.

Ya and he's still better than the majority even when he's injured.

Why anyone would listen or read Brolly let alone quote him is incredible..

Ah the aul Brolly meister at it again. I guess if you're not being talked about then you don't matter as a journalist and Joe wants the limelight. He's a bit like a derry version of Dunphy.
A spoofer as Eamo would say and a good player, not a great player.

Would that one forward be Cillian O Connor or Andy Moran ?

Current Dublin team could be the greatest we have ever seen so not many would make that team. Especially from 8-15. Such a daft way of judging a player.

Big fan of Joe especially in his accurate critique of problems within the Association but I'm afraid you have got this one completely wrong Joe. Yeah we may not like the shaping, Fermanagh incident & Twitter etc but Aidan is a fine footballer & his performances in 2017 dragged Mayo to the All Ireland final.

After the masterclass Aidan gave against Dinegak in 2013 quarter Brolly was falling over himself to praise O Se...."If I was the lads father I'd die a happy man" - so it seems Brolly has a new target this season...the man is a parody of himself.

I actually thinks he loves Mayo and is maybe looking for a reaction...he spends enough time here anyway as he is down here every second weekend.

Praise weakens you. Settle down folks; this is doing AOS and Mayo a favour - a jibe like this will do more to motivate than any amount of sympathetic 'hard luck again' backslapping. Joe would love to see Mayo get over the line, and he's shrewd enough to know that the last thing the big man needs at this stage is more tea and sympathy.

Won't do Aidan a bit of harm commercially either, puts his name up there in the media as the league starts.

Joe seems to have a chronic need for attention, and should really not be slating an amateur athlete in this personal way. As others have already said, AOS had a fine season in 2017, and Mayo may not have gotten through a few ropey qualifier performances had it not been for him.

Brolly is an enigma- a clearly intelligent man, capable of great insight and analysis, who oversteps the mark so regularly at this point that he has long since become a parody of himself.

An educated and intelligent man who behaves the wrong way a lot of the time especially if there's someone taking notes. Even from his playing days and his scoring celebrations he seems more self-interested than genuinely concerned about the good of the game.

Jesus, Brlly is starting into his nonsense early in the year.

Does he never take a minute to consider what effect this kind of stuff has on a man & his family?

Yes, he makes good points at times but when he gets personal like this he is a disgrace to the GAA in my book.

Terrible personal comment by Brolly - no need for it. Could have put it will take an improvement in performance by Aos and others for Mayo to get across the line - Saw him in clones today last man off the field taking photos etc with the young fans. Almost as many Monaghan as Mayo youngsters looking him for that photo - Well done Aidan.
