Replying To yew_tree:  "Bar Ballina I am not sure there is another location in Mayo for to hold the crowd. You have the floor lights in Castlebar plus everybody can be accommodated in the stand.

Windy Bekan would have been fun to stand out in under last nights monsoon."
Its not so long ago Mayo and Roscommon FBD games were played in either Ballyhaunis or Ballinlough. Surely Mayo have plenty of club grounds to hold a crowd of 1600?

There was a crowd of 2,679 and needed a good pitch to hold up to that weather. I am also sure the crowd appreciated the roof over their heads and the strong floodlights.

Great battle in Castlebar tonight with Galway down to 12 holding out to continue their winning run over Mayo

made very hard work of that game tonight but the ref didn't help. his decision to send Comer off was shocking. did Sean Andy say something to the ref to get sent off cause there was nothing in open play? great credit to both sets of players who served up a good game of football considering the conditions

Only listened on the (Galway biased) radio myself but it was generally accepted that Comer threw an elbow. Sean Andy got a second yellow or possibly a black, possibly for the last foul?

There was a crowd 1600 at the Leitrim game was the point and it could have been played elsewhere. Scheduling two games in three days in this weather on a pitch that is not good was a poor decision by the Connacht council. Yew Tree No health and safety towards club grounds hosting FBD games as we had FBD games and still have FBD games in club grounds and Leitrim and Sligo will be played in Cloone next Wednesday .

Player of the year. Hey at least there's a greater chance of winning a game in super 8s there will be matches outside croke park.

I didn't realise we were counting FBD pre season games on the winning run? ;)

Galway deserved the win. More experience in the Galway team. Going over 33 minutes without a score is disappointing from a Mayo perspective especially when it's another forward we are trying to unearth.
Impressed with Ruane and O'Donoghue for us.

Cunningham looks the part and Paul Conory played v well.

''Tis only pre season though as they say

We'll take anything at this stage!

Conditions were horrendous and games at this time of year can be a lottery. Good to see a lot of promising players on both sides getting game time.

I'd hope at least a few of last year's 21s are regularly involved in the league.

Will Sean Andy make it as a senior fullback for Galway.

Sean Andy could play at 3, 6 or in the middle. Galway finally may have found a 3 and 6 with himself and Mulkerrins who is a serious baller. SeanAndy's performance is no surprise to anybody who follow Galway, he outplayed everybody he came across during the U21 run last year including Con O Callaghan in the final.

Galway could be dark horses this Summer. They do have talented players coming through and Galway football has tradition behind it. .

I though the Mayo man hanging off Comer was gonna be black carded. Didn't hardly notice Comer swinging his arm. He looks sharp and dragged a bit of football into a fairly dull game until his introduction.

That's the hope. He looks like he all the attributes needed and was outstanding in last year's U21 campaign. He's physically very strong, aggressive but also has plenty football in him. Senior is still a very big step up.
I was at the U21 final and he won every single 1-on-1 ball played into O'Callaghan in the first half. Con was moved out to the half forward line before half time.
It's a position we're in desperate need to fill, so the league will tell us a lot.
