Part of that problem is the homegrown wasters who don't want a job. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 10/12/2017 10:08:25 2064768 Link 0 |

I've looked it up. And I don't see I'm asking you again; how is it ironic? Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2481 - 11/12/2017 19:24:41 2064887 Link 0 |
You looked it up? And you don't see? What do you not see? OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 11/12/2017 21:00:34 2064899 Link 0 |
Ok. Let's recap. I made a comment. You said it was ironic. I asked you, how was it (my comment) ironic? You suggested I look up the meaning of ironic. I know what irony means. You are avoiding, or fail to understand my original question. In what way, was my comment, ironic? Enough of your sophistry and dodging. Answer my question Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2481 - 12/12/2017 21:15:38 2065032 Link 0 |

Why don't you get a flight back, walk amongst them and ask?

I looked at the list of sportsmen/women from the GAA doing this and it really is impressive. What I find most heartening is the social conscience of young people, it has an energy, it is infectious and is great to see. The best part is they don't pre-judge, don't preach and have no expectation of making a difference - they are just trying to do the right thing. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4898 - 13/12/2017 08:28:23 2065059 Link 0 |

Why?

Because you are obviously out of the picture. If you are really concerned about the situation, get up close and personal with it. Once you do that then perhaps you can tell me how Ireland's homeless population fits in with your version of 'Irishness', being as you are yourself from an emigrant background.

Yeah, fair play to them. The housing crisis in Dublin is an artificial crisis brought about by the inability of the govt, for ideological reasons, to countenance anything other than a private sector house build programme, even though it clearly isn't working. I used to live in central London. I remember one Christmas night in Paddington getting into an argument with a group of rich guys in tuxedos who were laughing and urinating on people sleeping in doorways. Reality is that once you're poor and homeless, you'll die prematurely, and you'll generally be despised by most nice, respectable people. Lots of people sleeping in doorways is always a tell-tale sign of a rich, successful and unequal society. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 14/12/2017 12:42:25 2065167 Link 0 |
