Laying hands on an official will always be more serious than an opposition player, doesn't matter the severity or sport.

That's hillarious in fairness, what next? Will they roll up in front of the hill doing a warm up in Connolly t shirts? tearintom (Wexford) - Posts: 1338 - 25/06/2017 19:52:43 2004979 Link 12 |

first tyrone..now dublin..it's time mayo had some backbone and joined them..rte have waged campaigns against certain players and individuals over the years..some of their so called pundits are a disgrace to the game...imagine a dublin tyrone final..no pre match and post match interviews..no cameras present in both counties in the run up to the game..no post match interviews and the sunday game will have to broadcast from the studio with them being barred from both banquets..thats some going for the so called national broadcaster...brilliant stuff

Not a bad idea if they are. Could be that last drop of motivation needed to do 3 in a row.

That sounds like a good idea - I wonder if some sponsors might start to re-evaluate their individual/team sponsorship though. Maybe RTE would then get their legal beagles to have a closer look at the package that they signed up to with the GAA.

Sure you should show solidarity with your manager and take a vow of silence yourself.

Jim Gavin has often said that the Dubs don't concern themselves about what is said about them in the media. Things have changed. salvador (Roscommon) - Posts: 439 - 25/06/2017 20:20:48 2005010 Link 3 |
No, Connolly hung himself out to dry and now his manager is pretty much saying that it's ok to do what he did and has decided to blame everyone else for the furore except the offender himself, I'm surprised a man of Gavin's intellect had allowed himself to have a Kevin Keegan moment and make a complete fool of himself.

Dublin sending a message to RTÉ that they control what's controversial and newsworthy not The Sunday Game. All_square (Galway) - Posts: 3 - 25/06/2017 20:24:44 2005014 Link 10 |

If both won their provincial titles then if they both won their Qfinals it would be a Dub v Tyr semi final And it's highly likely to happen but then again Kildare / Down could throw a spanner in the works SamOnErrigal (Donegal) - Posts: 1427 - 25/06/2017 20:38:44 2005037 Link 0 |
It was a logical next step, control of funding, where Dublin play championship games next step the media.

We were totally focused on this game and look forward to meeting Kildare in the final.I thought WestMeath performed really well in the first quarter but we dug in and the panel pulled together to put in a brilliant performance. Ros2013 (Roscommon) - Posts: 519 - 25/06/2017 20:45:26 2005047 Link 4 |
Haha! And no doubt if such a thing happened, someone will start a thread here immediately bemoaning other sports getting more coverage from the national broadcaster... ;)

Glad to see Dublin take a stand on it. If other counties are ok with Spillane being judge, jury and executioner every time one of their players crosses the line then let them continue to be sheep. It's important that the all powerful anslysts are put back in their box and denying them interviews is a subtle enough message that teams won't stand for on-the-pitch decisions being overturned by wasnabe sports hacks in the SG studio. It's nothing that Harte hasn't been doing for years anyway. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 25/06/2017 20:59:30 2005061 Link 0 |
Surprised at the Dubs! Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1415 - 25/06/2017 21:09:13 2005072 Link 0 |
This media ban nonsense has to stop with every single county. If they don't go along with it being interviewed by TV,Radio and newspapers the county board should be fined heavily and funding from the central pot should be cut.How difficult is it for them to just go through the motions of being interviewed or even better if they aren't happy with the media treatment of the tea perhaps the managers can simply use it as platform to have a cut back at Spillane and co if they want. uibhfhaili1986 (Offaly) - Posts: 1296 - 25/06/2017 21:11:26 2005078 Link 1 |
