Ziggy I'll start with the obvious, he missed the actual warm up when they came out in training jerseys as they were out well before 6.23. , actually about 20 minutes earlier. He made no mention of the heat compared to Louth game.

Yeah, that's very good. Got timing right. Warmup had nothing to do with anything.

I think this one will be a close enough affair. Meath looked a poor side against Kildare and may well have performed below themselves and could show better form at home. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 24/06/2017 18:03:00 2004370 Link 0 |
One thing you certainly are is optimistic good sir, we shall see in 2019 I guess ;)

Ok but the main point is he is actually missing the heat, exact same warm up v Louth? Probably but what was Parnell that day? 15/16c whereas Tullamore was 26c. . That's got to have been a factor, do you not think? Maybe I'm wrong (it happened once before that I was) :) but on a day like that I would have done a light warm-up. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 25/06/2017 08:49:00 2004621 Link 1 |
Ah bloody hell lads, if you think one of the reasons Meath were hammered by Kildare was because of the Royal warm up pre-match, then I dispair. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3738 - 25/06/2017 09:27:58 2004633 Link 2 |
there's a big difference between being optimistic about your team's chance's and totally disrespecting the other team by saying "we'll win this one but it's the next game that will define Andy's first year"of course we all like to think we can win the next game but i would never just dismiss the opposition out of hand

Interesting to hear Mickey Burke highlight that a video session showed 7 of Kildare's first half points came directly from Meath turnovers/errors, now there lies a problem that needs rectifying, we made too many errors and wrong decisions in carrying the ball that good teams like Kildare will punish. I would expect that bit of video analysis will lead to changes come Saturday. Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3734 - 28/06/2017 05:09:32 2006628 Link 1 |
Ok we wont win this one, but its the next game that will define our year. Happier??? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 28/06/2017 06:50:48 2006632 Link 1 |
my honest opinion that the warm up was not an issue. they had the same warm up against cavan in similar conditions in a challenge game and we looked way sharper in that game.

mayo and galway down through the years would worry a bit about sligo. meath must be right mentally for this game and up the workrate considerably, otherwise they will be beaten.

also sligos strengths are clearly their forwards,so we must tighten up big time. the forwards must work harder off the ball too and not let players wlak past them like they did against kildare. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 28/06/2017 08:28:05 2006644 Link 1 |
People seem to throw this "disrespectful" tag about like confetti. What's disrespectful about having the confidence to predict his county will win? If he's said there's no point Sligo turning up or something along those lines then fair enough but don't slag the man for having an opinion.

Sligo have the forwards to cause us serious problems and in our last 2 games we've coughed up 5-25 without scoring a goal ourselves. That's a worrying statistic and it's pretty disappointing considering how well we finished the league, seems like we've gone back a bit at the most crucial time of the year. Meath finished 3rd in Division 2 and Sligo finished 4th in Division 3. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13718 - 28/06/2017 11:53:47 2006754 Link 0 |
Having seen the two teams play on telly I'd say Meath to win by 4/5 points. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 28/06/2017 11:59:40 2006757 Link 2 |
