McMenamin not a fan of offensive mark

The new rules have been introduced for the early season competitions and already it has come in for some criticism.

McMenamin saw at first hand the new rules in action when his side took on Antrim in the Dr McKenna Cup last weekend.

And the former Tyrone All-Ireland winner told the Fermanagh Herald that no one seems to understand the new rules.

“The (offensive) mark is proving troublesome. The refs don’t understand it, the players don’t understand it. This is the second week in a row that there’s been problems with it,” stressed McMenamin.

“It’s very complex and I think if the GAA was keen on taking rules from other sports they would have been better doing what the AFL do and take the coaches, CPA and GPA down and have a conference to see how we can make the game better going forward. I’m really looking forward to seeing this rule being implemented in an U14 match in Dromore!”
