Joint-manager Brendan Rasdale reckons there is less pressure on Derrygonnelly than last year as they embark on another Ulster club SFC campaign.

The five-in-a-row Fermanagh champions have struggled to make an impact in their previous forays into Ulster, but Rasdale claims expectations aren't as high this year.

“I felt uncomfortable at times last year that a big Ulster club tag was hung on us," he told the Impartial Reporter.

"I don’t get that feeling this year, the team has changed, we lost a few guys and probably the fact we were beaten last year has taken that pressure off too. There was a feeling that if it was going to happen it was going to happen last year so I don’t feel that same pressure. Look, we will go in and give it our best."

Reflecting on last Sunday's landmark county final win over Roslea, Rasdale enthused: “Every one of them is historic but five in-a-row carves its own wee piece of history and puts us in with a group with the likes of Teemore.

"You can’t put words on it, it is a big deal and as much as we tried not to make a big deal of it in the build up, it is a big deal.”
