Team news: Farrell names unfamiliar line-up

January 11, 2020

Dublin's Chris Sallier and Donegal's Conor Morrison

With most of Dublin's All-Ireland winning panel not returning from their team holiday in Bali until this weekend, Dessie Farrell has taken the opportunity to experiment in his first game as manager against Longford this afternoon.

Killian O'Gara and Niall O'Callaghan, who are younger brothers of Eoghan and Con, are named in the full forward line for the O'Byrne Cup semi-final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, while Michael Shiel, who was third choice 'keeper last year, starts between the posts.

Shiel, along with the likes of CJ Smith, Graham Hannigan, Eoin O’Brien, Emmett O Conghaile, O’Gara, Glenn O’Reilly and Chris Sallier, have featured in previous O'Byrne Cup campaigns.

Dublin (SF v Longford): Michael Shiel; CJ Smith, Eoin O'Brien, Darren Byrne; Niall McGovern, Graham Hannigan, Cian Murphy; Emmett O Conghaile, Andy Foley; Niall Walsh, Dan O'Brien, Glenn O'Reilly; Killian O'Gara, Niall O'Callaghan, Chris Sallier.
