A 78-year-old former All-Ireland minor winning captain is hoping to see action for his club this weekend.
Mick Kissane, who skippered Dublin to an All-Ireland MFC final victory over Mayo in 1958 and went on to win an All-Ireland SFC medal five years later, will be among the subs for Naomh Mearnog when they play Whitehall Colmcille in a league game tomorrow.
Mick is a legendary figure in the Portmarnock club and is extremely fit for his age. If, as expected, he comes off the bench, it's likely that Mick will be the oldest person ever to play a GAA match.
A club spokesman told the Irish Daily Mirror: "He is going to play one last game of football so his grandchildren can see him in action. He runs a social football club in Portmarnock and is still in great shape for his age."
