On the biggest day in the hurling calendar, Kilkenny and Tipperary met in what promised to be an epic 2019 All-Ireland SHC final.
Having been edged out in their respective provincial finals, the traditional giants of the ancient game had battled through to the Liam MacCarthy decider and no quarter was asked or given as they faced off for the biggest prize of all.
The Black & Amber were also involved in the curtain-raiser, where Galway stood between them and the All-Ireland minor hurling championship crown.
