Dublin SFC: Brogan can't save Plunkett's as 'Boden and Crokes progress

September 15, 2018

Ballyboden's Bob Dwan with Bernard Brogan of Oliver Plunkett's

Bernard Brogan came off the bench to score a goal, while his older brother Alan was sent off as St. Oliver Plunkett's / Eoghan Ruadh made their exit from the Dublin SFC in Parnell Park last night.

The Navan Road outfit needed to beat Ballyboden St. Enda's by four points in order to keep their championship hopes alive, but they were held to a 2-7 to 0-13 draw after 'Boden scored two late points to progress to the quarter-finals. Bob Dwan also saw red for 'Boden, who led by 0-6 to 0-3 at half-time before Brogan - who missed the early rounds of the championship with a cruciate ligament injury - netted early in the second half to level proceedings at 1-4 to 0-7.

Kilmacud Crokes are also through to the last eight following a low-scoring victory over Raheny in Balgriffin.

Despite an array of attacking talent on display, including Dublin star Paul Mannion, the game only produced 11 points, with Crokes prevailing by 0-7 to 0-4 to maintain their 100 per cent record. Raheny's cause wasn't helped by the absence of Brian Howard, who was due to start at centre forward.

The action continues this evening when St. Vincent's - will Diarmuid Connolly be involved? - take on Lucan Sarsfields in O'Toole Park, while Na Fianna face Skerries in Parnell Park. Vincent's have already booked their spot in the last-eight following wins over Na Fianna and Skerries Harps.
