At 56 years old, Mickey Linden is still playing the game he loves!
Last evening the evergreen Linden answered an SOS call from his beloved club Mayobridge and lined out as goalkeeper in their 3-17 to 2-6 Reserve Championship win over Drumaness. The 'Bridge could also call on fellow Down legend Benny Coulter!
When your club thirds needs a goalkeeper for a Championship match, why not take a Legend out of semi-retirement and stick him between the posts. 56 year old All Star @mickey1cjm tonight helped his club to a 3.17 to 2.06 win over @DrumanessGAC Picture @mungo4 @OfficialDownGAA pic.twitter.com/OjtOBIG85L

It's 38 years since Linden made his inter-county senior debut with the Mourne County. He went on to become one of the leading forwards of the 1990s, winning All-Ireland medals in '91 and '94, All Star and Texaco Footballer of the Year accolades in the latter year as well as seven Down SFC medals with the 'Bridge, not to mention the Reserve medal won last year!
