Letterkenny Gaels club notes

It was with great sadness that we learned about the tragic passing last Thursday evening, of our esteemed Club Member, Francie Browne following a serious road traffic collision. May Francie rest in peace. Sympathy is extended from all at the Club to Kathleen, Conor, Hayley and their extended family and friend. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dhilís.

As a mark of respect to the Browne family, our Championship games were postponed last weekend and have been re fixed for this weekend. Please see Facebook for fixtures details. 

The Minor footballers bowed out of the Division 2 Championship after they were defeated by Fanad Gaels on Wednesday evening in Convoy.

The U-13 girls are due to play St. Michaels this coming week in the next round of the championship. Training continues every Wednesday from 6pm to 7.15pm.

Letterkenny Gaels U-8/10 Camogs took part in a very enjoyable blitz hosted by Burt on Friday evening. The girls had competitive games against Na Magha from Derry, St Eunan's and host club Burt. Following the blitz the girls and coaches had tea and refreshments in the clubhouse.

Thanks to all for organising and for taking part.Well done to the Gaels Camogie girls and mentors who took part in the All Ireland Camogie blitz at the weekend in Dublin.

Camogie training continues at Pairc na nGael every Friday for U8, 10 & 12 from 6.30-8pm and U14/16 on Monday at 6.30pm. New girls welcome and equipment is available to borrow.

Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure in Letterkenny are currently stocking Club gear which includes replica jerseys, training tops, jackets, bobble hats, scarfs etc.

Well done to the U-13 footballers who got their league season off to a good start with a victory over St. Eunans at O’Donnell Park on Monday evening.

Commiserations to our U-14 boys who lost their recent match against Downings. This was a high scoring affair with Downings winning out in the end. The boys never gave up and battled to the end. Thank you to all the parents for your support and help on what has been a really enjoyable season. Last week was the final game of the season for this group. The lads had some really good wins and performances during the season. Thanks also to Donal and Ray and all involved.

Letterkenny Gaels U9s competed in the annual Laurence McGinty Memorial Cup in Glenswilly on Saturday morning past. Two U9s teams from Letterkenny Gaels took to the field. Kevin McGarvey's U9 team lost out in the semifinal to a very strong St. Eunan's team but made amends by overcoming Buncrana in the 3rd/4th place play off. Declan Barrett's U9 Team overcame their Letterkenny neighbours, St Eunan's, in the semifinal but finished runner up to a very strong Glenswilly team in the final.

Letterkenny Gaels would like to thank Paddy McAteer and the Glenswilly GAA club for their kind hospitality in hosting the event. The Letterkenny Gaels players all had a great time and a great morning of football. Underage football training continues every Sunday from 10.30am at the pitch. All welcome.

 

U-12 hurling training takes place on Tuesday evenings at Páirc na nGael at 6.30pm.

Underage hurling training continues every Thursday evening at the pitch from 6.30 to 7.30 for U-6 to U-12. Hurls and helmets may be borrowed for new members.

All welcome.

 

Bingo continues every Monday in the Arena 7. The Jackpot stands at €7700.

Doors from 8pm. Eyes down 9pm. All welcome.
