Disciplinary Reasons. Did he go for a few pints one evening? He's out for 6 weeks and they tell him to abide by the team's laws & regulations, even though he may play no further part this summer? Seems a bit silly to me.

I am getting sick & tired of reading every Tom, Dick & Harry on the national airwaves & in the Monday papers complaining about refereeing/linesmen/umpiring decisions. I firmly believe now that its their way of getting their voice heard on a national stage.
A couple of instances jump out from this year.
Tyrone's Mattie Donnelly in the Ulster Final - Clear Black Card, didn't make an honest attempt for the ball, barely lifted off the ground, clearly just let his momentum run into McHugh, and don't come back at me saying "he was in the air." He landed before clattering McHugh.
Tipperary's Robbie Kiely in the All-Ireland Semi-Final. Clear Black Card, took the man out of the game when baring down on goal. It is totally irrelevant if its in the first minute or the last minute of the game.
How RTÉ can justify that Tom Carr should be on the airwaves is beyond me. He, like everyone else, is fully entitled to his opinion, but the problem is nobody else cares about his opinion. Some of the garbage he has come out with over the year has been utter tripe. He has yet to say a good thing to say about a referee, and you'd think he wrote the rulebook the way he carries on.

What's the championship format in your county? - 2 Like(s)
Monaghan
29 clubs.
We have 10 teams in Senior, Intermediate & Junior. Scotstown enter a second team at the Junior grade.
Our championships are on a knockout basis, with a back-door up to the Semi-Final stage.
The "A" side represents the Winners Section, while the "B" side represents the back-door route.
Our three Championships run as follows.
Preliminary Round & Round 1A
Ten teams enter each competition (5 games). Four teams are drawn into the Preliminary Round (2 games), while the remaining six teams are drawn in Round 1A (3 games).
The winner of each Preliminary Round game plays each other in the fourth Round 1A game. The winners of all Round 1A games progress to Round 2A. The losers enter Round 1B.
Round 1B
Five teams enter this round. The losers of the Preliminary Round (2 teams) along with the losers of Round 1A (3 teams), but not that fixture which contains the Preliminary Round winners (they progress to Round 2B).
A draw will be made to determine two pairings, with the fifth team obtaining a bye into Round 2B.
Two teams will end their championship journey at this stage.
Eight teams remain in the Championship.
Round 2A
Each of the four teams who won their Round 1A fixture. A draw will be made to determine the two pairings.
The winners progress to the Semi-Final, while the losers enter Round 3B.
Round 2B
Four teams play at this stage. Each of the two teams who won their Round 1B fixture, along with the team who received a bye from Round 1B and the loser of the Round 1A game which contained the Preliminary Round winners.
A draw will be made to determine the two pairings. Avoidance of a repeat pairing will be made where possible.
Two teams will end their championship journey at this stage.
Six teams remain in the championship.
Round 3B
4 teams play at this stage. Each of the two teams who lost their Round 2A fixture will be paired against each of the two teams who won their round 2B fixture. Subject to the avoidance of Repeat Pairing where feasible, a draw will be made to determine the two pairings.
Two teams will end their championship journey at this stage.
Four teams remain in the championship.
Semi Final
A draw will be made where the two teams who won their Round 2A fixture will be paired against the two teams who won their Round 3B fixture. Subject to the avoidance of Repeat Pairing where feasible.
Opinion:
We have a league structure where there are 10 teams in each grade (Senior/Intermediate/Junior), and you play same grade for league & championship. 18 games, double league. League winners & Championship winners get promoted, bottom two in league get relegated.
The knock-out system works well for us in Monaghan. No group stages, although back-door gives a second chance, but I really do not understand why counties play 4/5 games of a group stage before the knockout stages. To me, the league is there for all that, and the Championship should have that knock-out feeling of do-or-die.
I would love if someone could explain to me the logic, or indeed the merits, behind playing group stages/round-robins in Championship football.

A GAA World Title with Oman and a New York Senior Football Title would suggest that Banty is far from finished.

Predictions - 1 Like(s)
I'd predict that 22-25 points should be enough to survive. While I do believe that 5 points was a bit much, it will leave the five-game run-in exciting, especially in the Intermediate grade. Even after 20 points on offer, only three points separate fourth and ninth.
Carrickmacross are looking good in Senior League (with only Lynch on the county), can they keep it going for a Championship run? Currin and Seans, two Junior clubs last year, in the top three in Intermediate. This system is fantastic, but needs to brought back to three for a win with county players playing.

I was at the Intermediate double-header in Inniskeen on Saturday, first time seeing those teams in action this year, and I have to say, there was great value for the admission fee. 170+ minutes of football, not sure if i'm thawed out yet, was after 11 before I was home having been there from shortly after 6.
The first game was a game of two halves, Doohamlet were clinical in the first half, two Walshe's & red McGinn's hitting great long-range points and Corduff going down to 14 early on, thought that was curtains for them at half-time. Second half, Corduff came out like a team possessed. Great save from the keeper was the turning point, who was very good, young Hanratty, McEnaney (not sure which of them) in the middle was excellent and Keenan got a lot of abuse too. Then in extra-time, end-to-end stuff again, not quite sure what the conversation was between referee and umpires, but it did not look like a penalty, Corduff were very harshly done by I thought.
The second game was another titanic affair, Dean Connolly was exceptional in the middle, could really see him having a big say with the county next year, just like Kearns this year. Young Walsh was accurate from the frees too. O'Connell & Dermie Coyle was the pick of Tyholland players, second game not as high quality as the first but both teams left everything on the field after 90 minutes. It was all great viewing but players were out on their feet and not able to move come the last period of the game.
I really have to commend all four teams on great entertainment.

Replying To mrsme: "any ways who will win on saturday? i dont like the idea of a team being promoted without winning their league or championship" No team should be dragged up! Should be a play-off between 2nd place in Intermediate & 9th in Senior, so play-off between Magheracloone & Currin, winner stays/goes up?

Great win last night for the Ladies. Some well-worked scores. Showed great battling qualities, and a greater achievement given that they trained for the first time in Cloghan in the lead-up to this game. Let's get behind them
