Mayo V Meath - 14 Like(s)

Replying To royaldunne:  "Nearly all of them players with the exception of the full back line are panel players at best. Starting line up didn't include Colgan Keoghan, Mcentee Devine/mcentee Harnan Jones McMahon Walsh Newman Morris O'Sullivan All of who will play v (if fit ) v Kildare. We didn't field 11/12 first team starters. So honestly don't know how you can come up with they this that or other, today was a televised challenge match. And I'd be more worried about mayos ambition of all ire title (we have none) but they didn't show that much against a Meath b or c team that would've instilled confidence in me if I were a supporter that they anywhere near the standards of Dublin or Kerry. I think when we field our strongest team v Kildare we will win with a few points to spare. It may be close but Andy did the right thing in not risking the good players in a meaningless game."
So it's a televised challenge match, yet teams are supposed to measure up against Dublin in it at the same time. Go figure that one out! You have a knack of speaking out both sides of your mouth lad

Replying To royaldunne:  "[quote=brian:  "RD i'm not trying to have a go at you when i ask the below. You say only one or two of our players would get on the Dublin panel (and i agree with that) but you told us in the run into the Dublin match the game was 50:50, Dublin were coming back to the pack, we were better than we are, we'd run them close cos we are Meath etc etc. Was that all hyperbole and hype trying to build us or yourself up in the run into the game? Plenty of us on here were rightly very worried in the run and feared the result that would come our way and which did materialise. Some of us and I'll say myself in particular said we're not top 16 and we're laughed at for saying the league masked our true position. From the sounds of things you're pretty much in the camp with the rest of us now and can see the huge level of work that needs to be done to get us back to even close to be good enough to compete or maybe I'm wrong? I think you're now realising that we are Meath is just not true and hasn't been for years. Look at Derry yesterday, style of play, patterns and people playing to a system. They've come from Division 4, built eaach year under Rory Gallagher and beaten 3 first division teams to win their first Ulster in 24 years. Meath have none of that organisation and unless that is fixed we'll be going nowhere. I assume the "one of the men been named as possible next manager saying it won't change anytime soon" is Robbie Brennan, and if that's the case then he's not right for the job and shouldn't even be in the running or brought for consideration."
Also on the Derry thing Meath had them beat easily in a dead rubber for us a must win for them not too long ago only for a calamity gk error. Also I would actually love to see the posts on here if Meath played basketball like Derry and Donegal did yesterday. Now that would be funny."]Woulda, coulda, shoulda, didn't!

Kerry V Dublin - 3 Like(s)
Kerry played over 40 minutes against 14 men, didn't score after 65 minutes, yet media are fawning all over how well the young Kerry team did. Why not call it what it is? They bottled it plain and simple!

Replying To royaldunne:  "Don't think so. Meath performed remarkably good in the league, had Kerry Galway and Mayo beat only for some bizarre and often unbelievable mistakes to happen near the end of games. I fully expect Meath to be promoted again this year (whenever the league is played) that been said my fear would be we become a yo-yo team. That is demoralising for all involved. As for all the talk about competition? Take Dublin out of Leinster and it is the most competitive of them all, with realistic chances of Meath , Kildare, Westmeath, Laois, and maybe even Offaly winning a Leinster over the next 5 years. On the flip side put Dublin into Munster Connacht or ulster and they wouldn't be beat either over the last 6 years."
I doubt other provinces have the inferiority complex that seems to have taken over in Meath the last twenty years lad. I wonder about meath lads who want to talk up how great the dubs are,, many the members of the older great Meath teams would tell you to wise up!

Replying To football first:  "I just don't get this that with O'connor gets two YPOTY awards. He's a decent footballer, but nothing special. As for the Keegan decision- that's farcical."
Don't think you should be able to win young player twice, but if you really think diarmuid oconnor is nothing special you should take up another sport lad

Isn't it really just the super 8s in hurling except at the front end of the championship. Hurling is the code that should have the super8s in July, because it has an actual super 8!!
