Dublin, Tyrone, Donegal and Kerry came out on top in the first phase of Super 8 games…
1. Stephen Cluxton (Dublin)
The Dublin captain was unable to stop Luke Connolly’s first-half penalty but did keep Cork at bay with two crucial saves in either half.
2. Seamus Lavin (Meath)
The Meath corner-back conceded three points to Jamie Brennan but won more than his fair share of battles for possession with the recently crowned Footballer of the Month for June.
3. Jason Foley (Kerry)
Kerry issued a statement of intent in Killarney and Foley was one of the standout performers in their defence.
4. Ronan McNamee (Tyrone)
The tight marking McNamee successfully curbed the influence of Roscommon danger man Conor Cox.
5. Ryan McHugh (Donegal)
The livewire half-back was very much to the fore as the Ulster champions enjoyed a winning start to Group 1.
6. Philip McMahon (Dublin)
The versatile Ballymun Kickhams defender roamed forward to kick two points against the Rebel County.
7. Jack McCaffrey (Dublin)
There was no arguing with McCaffrey’s selection as ‘man-of-the-match’ after the final whistle was sounded by David Gough.
8. David Moran (Kerry)
Moran’s commanding first-half display laid the foundations for the Kingdom’s runaway 10-point victory over Mayo.
9. Michael Murphy (Donegal)
With Meath threatening to pull off a shock in Ballybofey, Donegal’s talisman grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.
10. Con O’Callaghan (Dublin)
The Cuala ace posed plenty of problems for the Cork defence and finished with four points to his name.
11. Niall Sludden (Tyrone)
Sludden’s constant probing unlocked the Roscommon defence on numerous occasions and he sent over three valuable points.
12. Stephen O’Brien (Kerry)
O’Brien’s pace and directing running style is a potent weapon in Kerry’s attacking arsenal.
13. Patrick McBrearty (Donegal)
Marked his 100th appearance in the county jersey in fine style with 1-6 against Meath on home soil.
14. Cathal McShane (Tyrone)
Continued his rich vein of scoring form in the number 14 jersey with a return of eight points (three from play) against the Rossies.
15. David Clifford (Kerry)
The gifted Clifford wreaked havoc on the Mayo defence as he accumulated a seven point haul at Fitzgerald Stadium.
