Originally from Barrack Street, Dundalk, Gerard 'Pop' Agnew passed away on November 8th, 2016, aged 74. He joined the Defence Forces in 1972 and served as a soldier for 30 years. A keen fisherman, he played for Sean O'Mahonys in his youth and continued to support the club throughout his life. At his funeral, Sean O'Mahonys GFC provided a Guard of Honour.
