Nigel Dunne is set to miss Offaly’s Leinster SFC quarter-final against neighbours Laois on April 13 after receiving a straight red card against Limerick last Sunday.

The veteran forward was sent off in injury-time for ‘contributing to a melee’ and will now miss the local derby in Laois Hire O’Moore Park unless he can get the decision overturned. Fellow attacker Dylan Hyland was also sent off moments earlier, but won’t have to serve a suspension after picking up yellow and black cards.

“It got messy. There were late tackles coming in, but you have to hold your discipline,” Offaly manager Declan Kelly said after his side’s 1-10 to 0-12 victory helped them to avoid relegation from Division 3 of the Allianz League.
