Dwelling on absent players is not something that Fermanagh manager Rory Gallagher is going to do.

Despite working with a relatively small pool of players compared to other counties, Gallagher would rather focus on who he has, rather than who he hasn’t.

The Erne County sit joint top of NFL 2 as they return to action this weekend with a clash against Donegal on the horizon.

Gallagher’s charges have made a decent start to the league campaign even though they have had to do so without a number of key players for a variety of reasons.

And the former Donegal manager told the Fermanagh Herald that the aim is to develop the players that are there at the moment.

“We cannot spend time worrying about who’s not there. We just focus on the boys who are training every single night and enjoy their hunger and willingness to be better for Fermanagh and improve as footballers.

“That’s very rewarding. We’ve Johnny Cassidy, Tom Treacy, Ultan Kelm, Kevin McDonnell and Garvan Jones stepping up to the plate.

“We wanted to build a squad and create huge competition within the group. We feel that’s moving in that direction.”
