Replying To doratheexplorer:  "Be unfair if team in 8th got an easier draw and got an opportunity to put up vig scores."
The team that got 8th would play 1st in quarters . What's unfair about that.
Look we had a competition to find the top 8. Scoring averages should come in to play.
Simple ... no playoffs required.
Encourage teams to play football and score by using scoring averages to define top 8.
Why complicate things with unnecessary playoffs. Top 4 have qualified and don't even know their opposition after 6 weeks of games.
You couldn't make it up!

Well said. Also the bottom 3 on points and scoring difference should be relegated.

Flipping hell Arva did not get one easy draw it makes the system seem unfair I expect to them for sure.

I think because all teams haven't played same opposition it would be against competition rules to be eliminated on points difference so county board can't be blamed.

It's a decent enough system but it's turning into a farce with playoffs .
We have 4 teams now for 3 places so how does that work ?
Who plays who?
If 10 teams had of finished level on 4 points each how would you decide a top 8 without using scoring averages? Jokers running football in this County. And 1 big Joke is even getting paid. It's laughable

There shouldn't be play offs. In Dublin, Tyrone, Derry they play straight knock out. Clubs have 4 games and then a possible play off to make a Quarter final. No wonder there isn't much intensity in some of the games. Just use the score difference.

exactly. Scoring difference should be used. If people are saying it's cause opposition is different, then how can you be sure that the team in 1st should really be there cause they might have had easier opposition...where would the argument end. It's championship..knock out..if you don't win enough or score enough then that's the nature off the game

As I said you can't be eliminated from championship on points difference when teams played different opposition. The play offs at senior will be simple an uncomplicated. 4 teams 3 positions. Open draw. Two winners through
Two losers play for last position. Then points difference decides positions.

And the intermediate with 3 teams tied for 8th? Open draw and team not picked plays the winner or the loser? or they all play each other? Maybe home, away and neutral venues just to be sure

So the top team the Gaels have to wait until 3 extra games are played to see who finishes 8th?
That will probably take 2 weeks provided there no replays.

Two rounds of games. A week. Most teams in same boat.

Lacken v Cuchulainns, Arva v Gowna in relegation scraps
Intermediate surely won't be easy won next year and most of the clubs won't even have a hope of winning it.
Killinkere v Buttlersbridge one of these will be going junior as well, bridge have alot of injuries it seems but killinkere are no great team dont know what came over them in last years championship

Think that was the whole idea of restructuring. Have stronger intermediate and junior championships and so have a better chance in Ulster competition.

Once the championship is over, Co Board need to look at revamping the league. The 12 Senior Teams legible for the Senior Championship next year should be your Division One Teams and so on. The league needs to be on par with the championship, with competitive league football, it might, just might improve the standards of the County Team.
