Is it true that Sean De Paul has it and there just waiting until after club championship to announce it ? He would be a great man for the job I think .......... He would be cheap and would play a very attacking system !

That's Vincent De Paul your thinking about. He'd be free.

Not doing a great job with Arvagh considering talent he has at his disposal. Also very negative when over u21s.

I have not posted here for at least a year, but if Peter Reilly becomes the next senior manager then all progress will be lost. While terry hyland was negative at under 21, Reilly has got to go down as the most negative manager ever to manage at this grade. Between the two of them they did not develop one forward for the senior team. Of course that would be impossible with the style they played. We need an outside manager now, anybody, who is not tainted by the glorious years of the under 21 era, where we basically developed about 25 backs and bored everybody into submission. We do need to remember that we were definitely the only team who gave our full resources to this age group at the time.

Dermot mc cabe as manager is obviously a wind up.

They will still win Intermediate and safe in div 1. Not bad hey. Why do we always run people down instead of praise. Yeah he done a good job as u21 manager imo.

Peter is a very nice person but when you are praising people please remember he had a very special man beside him called Joe McCarthy he was also beside Mr Hyland during the U21 success.

Hearing Dublin man Paul Curran is one the favourites for the job, Was my club manager last two years and although we did win a county title he simply wasn't all he was made out to be. I would look for other options if I was a Cavan man

Yeah heard that too. A good manager essentially surrounds themselves with the right people so at County level that means getting a top class trainer in and selectors with a wide breath of knowledge of club football.

Shows a bit of vision that they are looking outside the province. Too many of the Ulster managers/coaches have the same mindset.

Paul Curran unable to commit says today's Irish news. Petet Reilly also not able to give the commitment.

After watching the Kerry V Dublin game I'd say any potential new managers will be thinking twice about the Cavan job - we are not at that level and there will be many tough games in Div 1 for us. Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone, Roscommon, Donegal, Monaghan - where are we going to pick up a win and I think we only have 3 home games - I hope I'm proved totally wrong

You're right. Sure let's just withdraw our team. Sure what's the point.

There were fellas on here saying the exact same thing about Div 2 last year.

The problem bringing in a new manager at this stage is that he will not have had a chance to watch players at club level so this is a wasted year if it's an outsider for he will have to work with what we have in at the moment.
This if it's the case is a chance lost to have some new blood introduced and he will have to listen to those that are probably very blinkered all ready telling him what they pertain to be above average heavens forbid.
A shame sadly but the best of luck to the new man going forward.

Not sure what you're getting at with that post Sean. .

I think you're implying that an outside manager would have a Cavan selector tell him who to draft into the panel and there's likely to be bias on behalf of said selector.

Is that not the exact same if we go with an internal manager??

I didn't think Terry showed any bias in his panel selection. I don't think there are ANY (yes, ANY) players in the county who were not given a fair chance by the previous management in terms of getting into the Cavan setup.
His team selection was a slightly different story, but I felt he was always working with the best we had available which was a good start.
