Fermanagh V Cavan

McHale must know something about attacking. Roscommon top scorers in top two divisions. Problem last year we went from one style completely to another. Were far to open in some games. Balance is right this year.

Kevin Downes I think

Paddy O Rourke plays his Club football outfield Skyrne. and was a forward when he was first brought into the Meath Panel before switching to goals. Niall Morgan plays outfield for his club in Tyrone . Ray Galligan having outfield experience is probaly a help in that he is comfortable on the ball, and not kicking the ball anywhere for the sake of it,

McGrath from Fermanagh is the trainer not sure what Kevin does but he is part of the training team.

McHale didn't have Keating, Givney, Johnston to work with. The Rossies have plenty of powerful players in their forward line. Agree about the mix , Cavan were very open last year.

I was speaking to a cavan player last week and he said that Kevin Downes does all the coaching, he said he was brilliant, the best the team have had in years. He said his sessions are top class and he is always trying to improve the players behind the scenes with video sessions to see how they are getting on. Great seeing the team do well and great that it is cavan people who are leading the way on the management team.

Have to agree with Facer4homes recent post. Cavan supporters generally support our team through good and bad times. I have always done this and make no bones about it. Sadly a small minority jumped on Terrys back over the last year or so.
Yes Cavans defensive style was hard to watch but sometimes you "have to crawl before you walk" The lads have developed and matured age wise and have more big players to break the tackle when needed now. The return of Seanie and Givney has been a massive boost and with a few more young players coming through like Ciaran Brady, Liam Buchanan, Michael Argue and Padraig Faulkner the panel looks a way more stronger. And reading Gerry Smith has come into the panel is brilliant news. Class footballer. And I still think Josh Hayes is a great defender.
And when you consider that we have lost a few defenders (Damian Reilly, James Mc Enroe and Alan Clarke and the retiring Mark Mc Keever) it is great to see these class defenders coming through.
As well as these defections we have been without Rory Dunne , Eugene Keating, Niall McDermott and Cian Mackey. 4 Big players and Martin Dunne if anybody has any info on. Young Tom Hayes is with the u21's.
After the Tyrone game in Omagh, I expected us to push on in this division even though there were the doubters. The workrate that day convinced me something had changed. We definately should have drew or beaten Derry and were denied penalties in both these games.
Fermanagh were dogged and hard to break down but it was great to see our corner backs come up and score. Seanie took his goal with class and the lads got the job done. I will take back what I said after Tyrone game about Ray Galligan. He also has stepped up to the plate.
So looking forward to the Laois game, but again we have to be careful about the huge rise in "expectancy" within the county. Lads who were saying we were certainties for relegation are now tipping us for promotion. But Im sure Joe Brolly has revised his opinion on us also. No more slow Black Death Joe !!! Cavan are now an exciting team to watch.

Any criticism Terry got over the last 5 years was fully deserved, when you compare the football we are seeing now, to what we saw over the last 5 years, there's a complete turnaround.
Whilst he did receive that criticism, he now deserves praise for changing the style of play and turning things around, its early days, but Cavan Football has a very positive feel about it now. Promotion is now a must, and having watched the Division 1 highlights last weekend, I actually think we could compete in Division 1, granted, we have still a lot to learn, but apart from Dublin and arguably Kerry, I think we would be a match for any of the other teams.

Of course I struck lucky.
Wasn't my first born conceived on the 45m line in Breffini Park facing the town on a full moon night a few years back..
Destined to be great that lad..

Not only points kicked on the hallowed turf;)
Remember that the next time you witness a fine score in Breffini

Steady_Eddie strikes again!!

There is no McGrath from fermanagh involved in the management team. Maguire the S / C coach is from Dublin

Downes the trainer.

Deanmartin - you are some joker. Did you ever hear of the term balance. Terry deserved the bile you gave him in the past and your declarations that Cavan were rubbish and ready for relegation. Now based on three games he deserves some credit and not only that promotion is a must and we are as good as anyone in Div 1 except Kerry & Dublin. How about engaging your brain before you post - either here or elsewhere. I am really glad that decent supporters are seeing what you and your other page are all about.
