So castlerahen could potentially still win a championship after losing 2 games!! EastCavan (Cavan) - Posts: 183 - 18/08/2014 19:53:05 1638549 Link 0 |
i think wat happened at the weekend was some of the "poorer" teams in the senior championship pulled off "one off" big games. By that i mean cucullains, Drumalee and Denn to a lesser extent (and lets give them credit) played way above themselves. This is common enough in most counties, but what happens now is that they revert to type, and their next results will be more reflective of where they really are in the scale of tings. This theory is well proven in many walks of life, so lets see in 2 weeks time........ royalass (Meath) - Posts: 89 - 18/08/2014 20:21:39 1638561 Link 0 |

The safety net of the back door probaly takes some of the competitiveness out of the Championship games. But good to see the under dog teams do well - not sure if its much good for the standard of football overall in a bigger scale - teams could lose 2 games and still win the Championship. Who do the Cavan Champions play in the ulster club this year? evano11 (Cavan) - Posts: 265 - 19/08/2014 12:53:14 1638828 Link 0 |
yes the early rounds have caused a few surprises.I never imagined Ballinagh would do much this year and had heard good things coming from the cuchullains camp so i wasn't too surprised about that result. Drumalee v castlerahan was my pick of the weekend, drumalee caused castlerahan alot of bother and should of walked away with the win only for a poor goal conceded! will be interesting to see where they go from here. Yes there is a County Board meeting tonight, so they should be sent out later on or early in the morning. I'd assume any clubs left that haven't played so far in Breffni Park will get the chance in this round. Champion2011 (Cavan) - Posts: 230 - 19/08/2014 16:56:53 1638955 Link 0 |
Gaahead Drumalee should have walked away with it? Castlerahan had a perfectly good goal disallowed and hit crossbar. Also hit a lot of wides and dropped balls into keepers hand. Drumalee deserve credit for how well they were organised and set up but to say they should have walked it is stretching the truth. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 19/08/2014 18:19:47 1639004 Link 0 |
@ doratheexplorer I didn't mean they should of walked away with it in such but would be disappointed they didn't win or at least a draw. Castlerattan got there first shot away 15mins into the game and only managed 1.2 from play. GAAhead03 (Cavan) - Posts: 3 - 19/08/2014 20:01:54 1639048 Link 0 |
