can castlerahen lose again and still be in it?"

Any team that loses from here on in is out of the Championship.

That is not the case, the losers of the Castlerahan v Ramor, Kingscourt v Crosserlough, Lacken v Lavey and
Cuchullains v Cavan Gaels games will go into the back door and be drawn against the winners of the Drumalee vs Killygarry, Denn vs Ballinagh, Redhills vs Gowna and Drumgoon vs Mullahorn games. So the teams that won their first round have 2 chances to get to the quarter finals, the teams that lost and are in the back door already are on their last chance.

Apologies. Of course that is the case, the 4 winners from the 1st 4 games you mentioned go into the Quarter-Finals, while the 4 losers play the 4 winners of the other 4 games games to determine the other 4 Quarter-Finalsts. If Castlerahan were to lose against Ramor and ended up making it to the Final, they will have played a total of 8 games, were others could only have to play 5. But my money's on Kingscourt!

i went to a few games over the week end ballinagh and Cuchullains was a poor standard with adam reilly the difference the macfinns man scored 1-5 from play , bryan magee showed well for ballinagh mcdermot was the pick of them .
lavey v mullahorn , this was a very good game the two teams played nice football at times cullivan played very well for lavey and so did conroy , mullahorn played with heart , enda reilly played very well as did ray lynch , lavey behind most the game deserved the win
ramor v denn , this game was interesting and a battle players that played well for ramor was young cathal maguire and mark magee , ramor missing a few such as kevin mulvany jack brady brian oconnell and james bradley , denn played well mossy corr and ben conaty showing well and scoring at vital times , denn were miss noel crowe crissy cahill and alan tierney , the difference was simon cadden coming of the bench for ramor added speed and a runner , ramor have a few very good minors that was not togged out that would be close to the team .
thats me folks

Might aswell throw my predictions out now aswell.

Ballinagh v Denn - Denn by 2/3 points.
Gowna v Redhills - Gowna, but will be a very tight game.
Drumalee v Killygarry - Drumalee by a few points.
Drumgoon v Mullahoran - Mullahoran should see this out with abit to spare.

Castlerahan v Ramor - 2 very evenly matched teams, gonna go for a draw.
Kingcourt v Crosserlough - Kingscourt by 5 or 6 points.
Cavan Gaels v Cuchullians - Cavan Gaels, could be closer than people think.
Lacken v Lavey - Lavey will be hard bet after that win over Mullahoran, fancy them to get another win.

i think wat happened at the weekend was some of the "poorer" teams in the senior championship pulled off "one off" big games. By that i mean cucullains, Drumalee and Denn to a lesser extent (and lets give them credit) played way above themselves. This is common enough in most counties, but what happens now is that they revert to type, and their next results will be more reflective of where they really are in the scale of tings. This theory is well proven in many walks of life, so lets see in 2 weeks time........

Foolsgold Sean Brady and Cian McEnroe came on Saturday.
Both looked rusty. Ronan Flanagan be home soon with school starting back. Mackey close. David Wright be a while. Jack be back for Ramor and Cadden came on against Denn. Not sure about Mulvaney.

The safety net of the back door probaly takes some of the competitiveness out of the Championship games. But good to see the under dog teams do well - not sure if its much good for the standard of football overall in a bigger scale - teams could lose 2 games and still win the Championship.

yes the early rounds have caused a few surprises.I never imagined Ballinagh would do much this year and had heard good things coming from the cuchullains camp so i wasn't too surprised about that result. Drumalee v castlerahan was my pick of the weekend, drumalee caused castlerahan alot of bother and should of walked away with the win only for a poor goal conceded! will be interesting to see where they go from here.

Yes there is a County Board meeting tonight, so they should be sent out later on or early in the morning. I'd assume any clubs left that haven't played so far in Breffni Park will get the chance in this round.

Gaahead Drumalee should have walked away with it? Castlerahan had a perfectly good goal disallowed and hit crossbar. Also hit a lot of wides and dropped balls into keepers hand. Drumalee deserve credit for how well they were organised and set up but to say they should have walked it is stretching the truth.

@ doratheexplorer I didn't mean they should of walked away with it in such but would be disappointed they didn't win or at least a draw. Castlerattan got there first shot away 15mins into the game and only managed 1.2 from play.
